The latest issue of Famitsu has a section devoted to the upcoming PSP title
Monster Hunter 2 G. The "game" (more o an add-on, by the looks of things) will allow you to carry over all of your stats and equipment from
Monster Hunter 2. Capcom have sought to fight social convention by allowing your character to undergo a sex change and, much like any recently trans-gendered individual might require, your wardrobe will be changed accordingly.
As if you need any more reasons to buy this game, here are a few extra details, courtesy of Famitsu.
Monster Hunter 2 G will feature a G-Class which will allow you to take on harder quests. To help you on these quests your weapons will be able to be sharpened to a purple level (one above white - apparently) and a "white cat" will be available to help you on your journey. Add to this new equipment, monsters and another level and you've got every
Monster Hunter fan's greatest dream. Until
Monster Hunter 3 comes out, that is.
The game will be out in Japan on March 13th and there's a
rumour that
Monster Hunter 2 G will feature an infrastructure mode for online play, but there's no official word on that yet. For more little bits and pieces check out PSP Hyper's
write up of the Famitsu details or read the scans for yourself somewhere in this
NeoGAF thread.

We're scared for Nessie, our underwater ally, because after
Capcom sponsored a hunt for South America's Bigfoot and giant anacondas to promote
Monster Hunter Freedom 2, we just know they're going after her next as the company announced its plans to release
Monster Hunter Portable 2G.
No, it's not a full sequel, but it will build upon the Japanese hit by featuring new monsters, fields and systems. While the game doesn't have a release date, we won't be surprised if this one never makes it our way. But one thing is for certain, all mythical creatures now have nowhere to hide.

Online petitions rarely get the attention of the publishers that they're targeting. Not in this case, however. The official call for a
Resident Evil PSP game has earned the attention of Capcom. In an e-mail sent to the petition creator, a Capcom representative made note that for real results to be seen,
10,000 signatures would be needed: "As we plan for future games the team will definitely consider the fans and specifically your petition. It does have impact. Keep me updated on the number of signatures. If you get over 10,000 that will draw significant attention."
When we found out that Capcom was taking notice, we had to sign the petition. If you ignored the first call for signatures, make sure you
take action now: a
Resident Evil game may grace our handheld -- and who wouldn't want that?

Nothing, not even the mighty
Wii Sports, could get close to the awesome sales of
Monster Hunter Portable 2nd. Japanese sales for the first half of the year have been tallied up and surprisingly, this PSP game rose to the top of the list.
It should be comforting to publishers to see a PSP game do so well. Hopefully, this will encourage Japanese publishers to continue developing for the platform. The top three games for PSP this year so far include
Monster Hunter,
Final Fantasy Tactics, and
Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops.

Capcom's upcoming anime-inspired fighter looks ultra-kawaii, doesn't it? The new trailer on the
Japanese website turns up the bubblegum dial up to 11. We can't say we're too excited, but supposedly, there's a lot of hardcore
Fate! fans out there. (And by hardcore, we meant to say
... )

Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins on PSP is one of those games that's so hard, you hate yourself. Well, it looks like Capcom is going back to the game and making a few revisions -- but will it make the game any easier? Not really, according to
1UP. The game will be more akin to the arcade original, limiting the number of continues that gamers have and restricting the ending of the game to those that beat the game ...
twice. However, players will be able to get the double jump from the get-go and play levels out of order. That's a plus, no?
This interestingly tweaked version of the title will release in Japan this August. However, considering how specific these updates are, we find an American or European release to be highly unlikely.

Over 6,500 people showed up to a recent
Monster Hunter Portable 2nd tournament held in Tokyo. Of course, one could argue that if the game had Infrastructure support, the need to meet up with other systems physically wouldn't be needed ...
The festivities don't end there, though. Capcom is continuing their "Monster Hunter Fest" with similar tournaments to be held in Osaka, Sapporo and Nagoya. The finals will return to Tokyo on June 10th.

We're all bummed by
Monster Hunter Freedom 2's lack of Infrastructure. It's absolutely mind-boggling. Sure, we can use
tunneling services to trick the game, but Capcom should have known better. 1UP's Milkman agrees, and constantly brings the issue up in his
latest interview with Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto. Capcom's excuse is absolutely terrible: "The reason we went with Ad Hoc wireless play for the PSP version was because the reason for having a PSP is the ability to take it out on the town, or to play with groups of friends while sitting down. Like when you go to the arcade with friends, you go to play with people in the same vicinity -- you don't go to play with people across the country. So we really wanted to focus on having ad hoc multiplayer, so you could sit with a group of friends and talk about strategies. And that's what the real fun part is."
Excuse me? That simply doesn't make sense. Should
World of Warcraft be limited to Ad-Hoc play because that's what "the real fun" is? Sorry Capcom, that doesn't cut the mustard. Tsujimoto does offer a concession: "But in the future, it's something we can think about if the fans want something like that and let us know." But
we did let you know!

Monster Hunter Freedom 2 is set to destroy America. The Japanese release was a massive success, selling over a million copies within days. With more than 350 missions, 700 weapons and 1,400 pieces of armor, Monster Hunter offers gaming that just doesn't seem possible on a portable. If that weren't enough to satiate a hungry RPG player, downloadable quests will be offered for those want an even longer journey. Could this game be too big for its own good?
Although the game offers so much to do and see, it's unfortunate that Capcom isn't adding Infrastructure support for this massive sequel. Even with the pretty graphics and impressive-looking gameplay, the lack of true online multiplayer can be a deal-breaker.

The popular DS lawyer-ing game, Phoenix Wright, proved to be a fan favorite around the world. Now, Capcom is trying their hand at yet another lawyer game, but it's going to be unlike anything you could've ever expected. Capcom and Cartoon Network are teaming up to bring Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law to PSP (and PS2). We're hoping that Harvey Birdman will have all the fun of Capcom's other series, but with a hipper, edgier tone.
Unfortunately, details and screenshots have not yet been released. Although the premise has us a excited, we can't help but look at developer High Voltage's track record, and get a little worried. (The Family Guy and Leisure Suit Larry games don't really offer much street cred.) Capcom better get this one right, or it won't be too long before PSP fans are screaming "Objection!" ... for all the wrong reasons.

Some of our readers expressed great hope for Capcom's newly unveiled PSP fighting game,
Fate. The game, which is based on a popular anime series (which is, in turn, based on a popular adults-only
hentai series). The series has captured the attention of a wide audience, some who have been allured by the maturity of some of the characters.
A new
magazine scan reveals that the
Fate game is going in a completely new direction. Characters will be portrayed in the chibi artstyle, meaning they'll feature very large heads and eyes. This form, meant to be appealing to children, shows how this once adults-only series has transformed into something completely different. Will fans of the series approve of this startling new art direction for the series?

Doesn't that
Monster Hunter bracelet (pictured, right) look hot? In celebration of the Korean release of the
insanely popular RPG, one random purchaser of the game was treated to one of the sexiest pieces of swag we've seen. According to
Ruliweb, ten others were treated to some impressive action figures.
However, no one walked away empty-handed. Like
the Japanese, Koreans were treated to other swag items for pre-ordering. Early adopters received some premium posters.
Capcom hasn't announced any incentives for the
impending US release. But, if we're lucky enough, we'll also be able to get our hands on some swag of this caliber.

Like Pocket Monsters that live in a PSP instead of a capsule, Monster Hunter Portable 2nd continues to be immensely popular in Japan. The sales charts for last week show that Capcom's Monster killer has gone on to sell another 64,368 units bringing it's total sales up to 1,000,599 units. If ever there was a game that was obviously in line to get a sequel, this is it. Luckily for US gamers, Monster Hunter Portable 2nd will be coming to the US, so you only have to add to the Japanese sales if you're impatient.
