Is
Syphon Filter returning to PSP? According to an updated GameStop release list, the answer is yes.
Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow joins the newly revealed
SOCOM: Tactical Strike and a US-release for
Pursuit Force 2 in the retailer's latest update to their database. If
Gamespot's investigating is to be believed,
Logan's Shadow should hit PSP systems first -- September 4th. Afterwards,
Pursuit Force 2 and
Tactical Strike should release on September 25th and October 2nd, respectively.
Retailers are notorious for revealing unannounced titles accidentally, giving this report a great deal of weight. With
Syphon Filter joining the PSP lineup again later this year, it's clear that PSP owners are going to have a lot of games to play this fall.

Ever since GameStop
reduced the price of the PSP Value Pack to the price of the Core System ($199.99), we expected the Core System to drop in price as well. Looks like our suspicions were true. Starting tomorrow (April 3), all GameStop and EB Games locations will drop the PSP's price down to a paltry $169.99--a savings of $30.
Think this is a hoax? You'd be wrong!
Joystiq confirmed with GameStop, even providing images from their tipster. Check out more proof, after the break. With PSP's new lower price, will it be able to more effectively compete against the Nintendo DS?

An anonymous PSP Fanboy reader wrote us to make us hip to the fact that GameStop has given a release date of 11/01/07 to the PSP version of God of War. This listing could be like many GameStop listings and just be a placeholder date, but at the same time it makes a lot of sense for God of War to come out in the fall and we do know it's coming this year. Don't take November 1st off just yet, but also don't plan any big events for that day. It may be Godmergence Day ... or something.

The
latest Gamestop ad proudly proclaims that the PSP Value Pack has a
new low price. The bundle, which includes a Memory Stick, headphones, and a case, now comes $50 cheaper at $199.99--that's the same price as the Core unit.
It's unclear at this time if this is a Sony-mandated price drop, or if it's a Gamestop-only promotion. However, considering how today is PSP's two year birthday, it makes sense to celebrate with a universal price drop. If the Core unit drops in price as well, PSP will almost be able to compete against Nintendo's handheld ... at least in terms of price.

Update 1: Dave Karraker has e-mailed us stating "The PSP Value Pack isn't something we sell to retailers any longer. It is a discontinued model. So, the retailer can price it at any level they wish. It is not a universal price drop, just something GameStop decided to do."]

WTF, or
Work Time Fun, is the first game we ever
reviewed on PSP Fanboy: "Although the game certainly features some stinkers, it's still an enjoyable game that takes advantage of the PSP quite well." At a budget price of $15 at
Gamestop, the game's value increases quite a bit, making that 6.0 score we gave it a little easier to swallow.

Your UMD collection can grow like a cancerous universe-creating monster at the prices that Gamestop is selling them at. Akira, Appleseed, Ghost in the Shell, and Ninja Scroll UMDs are all available at the low price of $5. (For the non-anime fans out there, Dawn of the Dead should fit the bill quite nicely.) Don't forget to use coupon code SAVER for free shipping.

Oblivion gets a
huge delay? Or not. The PSP version of
Oblivion was supposedly
pushed back to September, much to the dismay of many. Now, it looks like the release date has been pushed back up to April, even though we haven't seen much (if anything) about the game. Personally, I wouldn't mind a delay: it seems like the PSP version needs as much time and work as possible.

Supposedly, the PSP version of
Oblivion was supposed to come out next month. But, considering the complete lack of updates on this highly anticipated game, we were skeptical, to say the least. Looks like the game's been pushed back ... all the way to September.
GameStop is reporting the ship date as 9/3, a delay as massive as the game itself. Hopefully, this will go a long way in improving its quality.

Ever since the World Cup ended so many months ago, my life has felt so muted, and empty. Thankfully,
Gamestop is trying to take away the pain with an awesome deal on
World Tour Soccer 06. The critics gave it
okay reviews, and It's considered the best game of
football soccer on Sony's handheld, and it's dropped down to a measly $8 (that's a $32 price drop!).
You may want to try the
downloadable demo first. Then, if you want the full game, don't forget to use coupon code SAVER to get free budget shipping.

If we're to believe 1UP, Square is heads-over-heels
in love with the PSP. A deluge of titles is supposed to head to our favorite handheld, including remakes of
Final Fantasy I & II. Although SCEA usually has a no-ports policy, it appears that this high-profile re-release may get greenlit for US release. Gamestop's website briefly showed a listing for the two ports for June and July, each retailing for $39.99.
While Gamestop doesn't have the most reliable release date information, they can be very good at accidentally revealing new games before they're officially announced. Remember
Oblivion? This is probably a positive indicator that the games will receive an English release, but I hope that price is completely fabricated: there's no justification
at all for a $40 price tag on an NES game remake.

Sid Meier's Pirates! is available for the PSP today and it's available for only $20 at
EB Games and
Gamestop ... that's $10 less than MSRP. With coupon code "SAVER," you'll be able to get free shipping, making it an even sweeter deal.
Considering how IGN recently gave the game a whopping 9.0 out of 10, this might be the deal you've been looking for. From their
review: "Everything that makes
Pirates! what it is is here and in fantastic form. The most important elements, like ship battles, exploration and such are identical to what you 'd find on the PC, which is really what matters. If you own a PSP, head to the nearest port and hand over some booty for this one."

The Magic Box is reporting that Gamestop listed EA Replay 2 and Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai Another Road coming out soon for PSP. The EA Replay 2 had a release date of February 19th for $29.99, but when I checked the Gamestop site the listing was no longer there. The release for Dragon Ball Z is listed as March 20th for $39.99 and that page is still up.
While Gamestop often lists incorrect release dates for games, they don't typically list games that don't end up eventually hitting store shelves. So there's a good chance PSP owners will get more time with EA and Goku soon. Until then, we'll just have to wait for someone to collect all the Dragon Balls and wish these games into existence.

Gamers looking for deals on Rockstar's finest need look no further. It appears that the excellent
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories has dropped in price to a
very reasonable $30. Considering how much content the game has, this is certainly quite a bargain.
Looking forward, you'll see that Gamestop is also listing the upcoming PSP port of
The Warriors at a budget price of
$20. The PS2 version of the game wasn't too bad at all, so you may want to pick it up as well.

The potentially canceled, or un-canceled, PSP version of
Gran Turismo 4 has just shifted its release date once again on the
GameStop website. The retailer is notorious for accidentally revealing crucial release info, but in this case, we're willing to bet that they're simply moving the date so that they can still hold on to pre-orders (some undoubtedly made nearly two years ago!).
The game is now listed as to come out on July 2nd. While that may seem like an eternity away, it'll be the slight glimmer of hope for those of you that don't want to believe in its
vaporware status.
