More than 100 first and third party games will be arriving on PS3, PSP and PS2 in Q2 of this year, according to a recent press release. "Our second-quarter line-up of PS3, PSP and PlayStation 2 software titles demonstrates a continued commitment from both SCEA and third-party developers to the PlayStation family of products," said Peter Dille, senior vice president of marketing, SCEA. "We are excited by the content being developed by our partners, but are also looking forward to launching PlayStation-branded exclusive games created by our own worldwide studios this quarter and throughout the rest of 2007." According to Sony, the "key titles" for their handheld in the next few months include:
- Alien Syndrome
- Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars
- CRUSH
- Dungeon Maker: Hunting Ground
- FINAL FANTASY
- FINAL FANTASY II
- Harvest Moon Boy & Girl
- Ridge Racer 2
- Test Drive Unlimited
- Tom Clancy's Ranbow Six Vegas
- Valhalla Knights
PSP Fanboy readers should be familiar with most of these titles. However, these are but a handful of titles that we can expect in the Spring. Continue on to see even more titles, with a few of our picks.
April7 Wonders
Aedis Eclipse ~Generation of Chaos~
Why we're excited: Cube is a simple, great-looking puzzle game with a really nice price: $20. With Game Sharing, a level creator, and tons of challenging levels, this looks to be a strong addition to the PSP lineup.
The Fast and the Furious
Hard Rock Casino
Ultimate Board Game Classics
MayLegend of the Dragon
Steel Horizon
Winx Club: Join the Club
Spider-Man 3
Taito Legends 2
Innocent Life: A Futuristic Harvest Moon
Why we're excited: Not only is the subtitle to
Innocent Life awesome, but the game has the potential to revive the tired and true farming franchise. We haven't heard much from the game--let's hope that changes soon.
Driver 76
Why we're excited: As proven by Rockstar,
Grand Theft Auto-style games work incredibly well on PSP. Ubisoft's approach takes the genre to NYC. Let's hope that the gameplay can come close to Rockstar's series.
Heatseeker
Hot Wheels Ultimate Racing
Puzzle Scape
Shrek the Third
Brooktown High: Senior Year
Diner Dash: Sizzle & Serve
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas
Why we're excited: PSP games can look like this? The graphics look stellar, and although we're bummed that the game was delayed so long, we can only hope it's to make the game better.
Coded Arms Contagion
Surf's Up
World Championship Cards
JuneFantastic 4: Rise of the SIlver Surfer
PQ: Practical Intelligence Quotient 2
Crush
Why we're excited: At GDC, there was one PSP game on everyone's mind:
Crush. This dimension-smashing game has the potential not only to be one of the most innovative titles on PSP, but of all games this year.
Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars
Why we're excited: It may not have the graphical polish that we'd like from a PSP game, but the
Crazy Taxi franchise always offers tons of fun. Its budget price makes it an attractive addition to the library.
Hot Brain: Fire Up Your Mind
Why we're excited: Hot Brain may just be a
Brain Age clone--but it looks to be a lot funnier than Nintendo's famous edutainment title.
Dungeons & Dragons Tactics
Why we're excited: This may come as a surprise, but we're big-time nerds here. So, when a new
Dungeons & Dragons game gets announced for our handheld, we pay attention. Hopefully, we'll find out more about the game soon.
Super Collapse 3
Transformers: The Game
The Bigs
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Alien Syndrome
Final Fantasy
Why we're excited: You should know by now.
Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary
Why we're excited: Ever since the last game,
Tomb Raider has become good again. Will the
Anniversary remake hold up? We hope so.
Ratatouille
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2

It looks like I will be playing the PSP more often. I can't wait to get Innocent Life. I am a big fan of the HM games and this one looks fun. Also I thought Brave Story was to come out before Dungeon Maker: Hunting Ground from XSeed but I see no word on that game.

Humm... I thought when it said "Sony unveils its official Q2 lineup" I would find some reference to the GPS accessory. Oh well... game lineup looks decent.
Been seeing all these releases for PSN and XBLM of retro games... how they can't think to open a PSP store for this stuff I just don't know. Storage footprint for some of the material should be quite small. Guess they should work out the PS1 issues before they start looking at other stuff... sigh.

Srry to break it to you, but this new HM is bad.. really bad. Other then being hella easy (I had like 200k g in the first year, enough to buy the most expensive item like 100 times over) no marriage love or anything. The festivals in this game are lame.. There like 2 minutes long.. The story line is even worse.. You gotta farm to save an island from a volcano. I've also read a few reviews and they also gave HM bad ratings.

Awww man. Haha. I thought they'd never release Ridge Racer Remix (it's just not enough to call it a sequel). Good thing I got it for 20 and some change from Play-Asia.
I'm really excited about Crush and hoping that Alien Syndrome doesn't suck. Needed an online mode though.

Okay, so I take it Spidey 3 is definatly coming out in May? Because for the last month, my local GameStop and EB Games have it pushed back all the way to November for the PSP.

Dude, Harvest Moon: Innocent Life's already out in EU. Haven't people read up on the hands-on reviews? It's quite good from what I've read, and it looks the part. Not for me though.
I'm looking forward to Coded Arms; Rainbow Six; GRAW 2; Alien Syndrome; Transformers (after heavy analysis of reviews); Spider Man 3, and uh. Yeah, that's about it for now. Damn, that's a lot!

I know I'll get Coded Arms even though the first one was mediocre, and also likely try the new Generation of Chaos game. I'm choosing to 'wallet protest' the FF games ...
But the one I'm really dying for is D&D Tactics!

Coded Arms looks sweet (online play and "real" levels should brighten up this title), Rainbow Six looks promising, Tomb Raider might be fun, Driver 76 has the possibility of being awesome, and Spider-man 3 I believe is set in a free-roaming world, which is definitely a plus!
But how am I gonna afford all of this? *cries*

The original Coded Arms was great, but just overshadowed by some glaring flaws. People complained about the control scheme - it had the ideal control scheme, but the badly programmed'targest assist' actually made things worse. The rest were deeper issues of bland, sterile, overly simplistic levels with no real story element per se.
This version seems to have made ample revisions to the aforementioned flaws, which should make for a fun sci-fi FPS experience on the PSP. Furthermore, it's online, which means I get the opportunity to frag some of you (not really, but still).
I admit that the list if indeed a hefty one; I've saved up a bit in anticipation of some of these titles.
