Worldwide PSP releases for the week of July 1

Every week, PSP Fanboy lets you know what's coming out for the PSP worldwide. If a game is listed as coming out in a different country from where you live, don't worry. Your PSP can play games from any region. It's a fairly sad release week, we only have a handful of games in the US and EU and Asian gamers just get greatest hits re-releases. I guess publishers figure you'll be too busy seeing the Transformers movie to bother buying games.

No UMD movies this week and mostly re-releases for Asian territories, but the US is looking fairly eventful (assuming the listed titeles don't get pushed back). EU is getting Hot PXL, which is like Wario Ware with street cred. Enough blabbering though, onto the list!

Sony unveils its official Q2 lineup

More than 100 first and third party games will be arriving on PS3, PSP and PS2 in Q2 of this year, according to a recent press release. "Our second-quarter line-up of PS3, PSP and PlayStation 2 software titles demonstrates a continued commitment from both SCEA and third-party developers to the PlayStation family of products," said Peter Dille, senior vice president of marketing, SCEA. "We are excited by the content being developed by our partners, but are also looking forward to launching PlayStation-branded exclusive games created by our own worldwide studios this quarter and throughout the rest of 2007." According to Sony, the "key titles" for their handheld in the next few months include:

  • Alien Syndrome
  • Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars
  • CRUSH
  • Dungeon Maker: Hunting Ground
  • FINAL FANTASY
  • FINAL FANTASY II
  • Harvest Moon Boy & Girl
  • Ridge Racer 2
  • Test Drive Unlimited
  • Tom Clancy's Ranbow Six Vegas
  • Valhalla Knights
PSP Fanboy readers should be familiar with most of these titles. However, these are but a handful of titles that we can expect in the Spring. Continue on to see even more titles, with a few of our picks.

Oblivion's release date continues to flip flop

Oblivion gets a huge delay? Or not. The PSP version of Oblivion was supposedly pushed back to September, much to the dismay of many. Now, it looks like the release date has been pushed back up to April, even though we haven't seen much (if anything) about the game. Personally, I wouldn't mind a delay: it seems like the PSP version needs as much time and work as possible.

[Thanks, Raviv!]

Metal Slug's slippery release

What is up with SNK??? Metal Slug Anthology was supposed to come out last year, and ever since, it's been constantly pushed back. We said it was coming out in February, and now it appears it's been delayed ... again. amazon.com shows a March release, which has us questioning: how hard is it to port over decades-old games? SNK gets a big "boo" for their constant release date shuffling.
