Anyway, this is a really good deal considering you're actually getting two games. The first game is a remake of the former Japan-only Rondo of Blood, and the second is a port of the uber-popular Symphony of the Night. Need more convincing? How about we sink our vampiric teeth into your neck. How 'bout that?

I agree, I got a lot of mileage out of this game, especially with all the unlockables!

Seriously the most disappointing Castlevania I have ever played IN MY LIFE. I was so crabby that I sold it back to GameStop. And I never do that!
Yes, it has Symphony of the Night. But you probably do too if you're a big Castlevania fan.

What was disappointing about it? It's hard, yes, but most of the old Castlevania's are hard. You probably just needed to put a bit more time into it. It's not that bad once you get into it.

And yes, you're right...I own:
SOTN for PSX (recently acquired)
SOTN for PSN
SOTN that comes with Dracula X Chronicles
That could be overkill.

It's probably not the difficulty that was disappointing. The 30 framerate in a sidescroller was the disappointing part for me. Things that could have looked awesome (raft ride) looked like a choppy mess. The SotN they threw together for this collection isn't anything to write home about, either.

I've become a bit of a Castlevania addict lately. I downloaded SotN from PSN, and then when I recently got a DS I got Portrait of Ruin and Dawn of Sorrow, as well as Aria of Sorrow for GBA BC.
I've already completed SotN. Is it the same here as the version from PSN, or are there enhancements? If not, is this deal worth it just for the new experience of Rondo of Blood?

It's probably not worth it. The game has a new voice track recorded for it (with a script that makes a bit more sense), and that's probably the biggest addition. However, I would argue that the former voices and script are more entertaining. Oh, and since the game is not widescreen, you can play SOTN with a custom border...hurrah.

There are some enchancement in the psp version of SOTN. For instance, Maria is now playable (and drawn in some areas of the game) and plays quite different than her saturn SOTN incarnation, but plays similar to the Rondo version. Lastly, in this version, you have to fight her in obtaining the holy goggles.
Also, all the voices have been redubbed. I would say for the better, but if you are one of the ppl who love the cheesy and bad voice acting in the original SOTN game, then you will be disapppointed.
The "I am the wind" song has been replaced with a different non vocal song.
The game appears to be translated from a later build of the japanese SOTN game(the greatest hits version?) because of some enemies now have japanese vocal tracks when they die.
The game also reintroduce the fearie and daemon 2 familars, which were taken out of the american SOTN version. The two familars are very similar to the deamon 1 and fairy familars expect daemon 2 says something different and faerie sings when you sit.
finally, some of the item descriptions have been altered. For example, in the original SOTN version, Konami didn't bother translating the word "New-half" under the frozen half description. In the psp version, it now says transvestite (english equalivant for the term new half)

I only want this for SotN. But I have it already with the CFW.
Not keen on the linear Castlevania games. None of them are as good as Dawn of Sorrows too.
