We're still not sure why Konami was so defensive about the new Coded Arms, considering that they wouldn't let us into their press event and all, but it could have something to do with the complete awkwardness of the game. When I showed up to finally see what Contagion was all about, I was a little bit disappointed with how uncomfortable the whole thing felt between my hands. Graphically, it was okay for an FPS on the PlayStation Portable. Not any better looking than the first installment though.
I'm not a fan of the control scheme either. While playing the demo, I took off into the random level they had available, only to be harassed four seconds into it by two enemies. This would have been forgivable had the baddies been gifted with a little more intelligence. The programmers need to tweak the enemy AI, because all they did was run into me repeatedly.
Because of the button layout, I wheeled around aimlessly while firing into the air, effectively missing my targets. It can be said that Coded Arms Contagion has an awkward learning curb attached, but if you find yourself with a short attention span and large fingers, you'll quickly get agitated.

Since this was deleted, I'll post it again. It speaks volumes that it was censored, though. Thanks for making my point:
Can you say 'sour grapes'?You guys need
realize, it's not just
because you're blogging pics of behing the scenes displays. It's also
that PSP FANBOY SUCKS and it's not a secret. Konami apparently spent
more than five seconds comparing joystiq's lovingly-maintained DS
Fanboy site to the slipshod PSP fanboy site, saw tons of news and E3
coverage that's up to date and written with enthusiasm on the DS
side, and, well... SQUAT on the PSP side - and made the rather easy
deduction that the people behind PSP Fanboy don't really care for the
PSP.Look at the difference in E3 updates - DS fanboy has all
this great stuff on the latest new games while PSP fanboy has
critical whiny bullshit about Coded Arms 2 and a mumbling
nothing-piece on Ratchet & Klank. That's between snipes and jibes
about the PSP not having original games, not enough games, blah blah
blah. Except when I go to OTHER sites with PSP coverage, I see info
on D&D Tactics, GTA Vice City, Silent Hill Origins, Steel Horizon,
Sonic PSP, etc...Listen up, Jostiq: Until we start seeing
actual up to date news, decent coverage of games & events like E3 and
less snide articles that sound like they're written by Nintendo PR
reps, you guys at joystiq will continue to be shut out of press
meetings like this one. You think it's just because of your photo
incident? Think again.Like slamming the preview of Coded Arms
2 is going to make it seem like they're 'scared' or 'hiding' the game,
and not that it's YOU lot getting all panty-knotted you didn't get
in... LOL
