Online retail giant Amazon.com is offering some sweet UMD promotional action at the moment. Using the special promo code
SPHEUMDFEB67, gamers can purchase two UMD movies and get $12 off the total price at the end. While there isn't any word on how long this will last, it begs to mention that there are only certain movies this works with.
There's a list of eligible movies if you visit the link. It's hard to get disappointed about it though, given the big selection and special deal.

It's official: Capcom's acclaimed brawler
Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max has been released. Boasting over thirty characters to kick butt with, this title still has what it takes to satisfy those violent tendencies we all deal with (or most of us anyway). Like wine and women, it only gets better with age.
After six years,
Street Fighter can still deliver like a punch to the face. Check out Gamespot's full review of it
here. By the looks of it, fighting fans have a lot love about this arcade port.

So whether or not you can wait for the new
Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai game for PSP, new screenshots have hit the scene that nix those urges to go out and punch someone in excitement. The 2D, cell-shaded look is definitely conveying its anime origins and actually makes it look pretty interesting. I'm going to have my Ki cocked and loaded for multiplayer action when this title hits store shelves.

You knew it was only a matter of time. Atari has recently come out saying that they plan on delivering the big haired, punching and yelling action of DBZ to the Sony portable via
Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai. There will be a grand total of 18 characters to do battle with. Expect foot-to-face combat, complete with the ability to counter attack and "transform into more powerful forms during the game" (like big monkeys perhaps?).
Either way, otaku fanboys everywhere will rejoice.

A member of the homebrewing community named Deniska has released a PSP port of the old 3D Realms shooter
Rise of the Triad. Originally published back in 1994, the game then used a modified version of the
Wolfenstein 3D engine. This particular title is still only in beta, but looks to be shaping up quite nicely.

Kao the kangaroo is one marsupial that packs a little more punch than the normal hopping variety. Atari is making sure of that anyway.
Kao Challengers will be coming to a PSP near you in March while boasting wireless multiplayer and four bonus stages. Despite looking kind of generic, its aesthetics are enough to keep me hoping that it holds up everywhere else.
I guess we'll find out next month.

Untold Legends: The Warrior's Code is now officially ready for mass production. Sony came out with the proclamation yesterday, so RPG fans should be limbering up those opposables and getting ready for it come March 14.
Players will experience the somewhat-epic storyline of an evil warlord and his band of minions enslaving the innocent people whom you seek to liberate. Okay, so at least the narrative is there in any case. But the real delight in this title is the hack n'slash, dungeon crawling action we all know and love. Here's 'till March-

A coder from the DCEmu community has cranked out a homebrew project called
OpenTTD based on
Transport Tycoon Deluxe. The title is still a work in progress at the moment with a couple of major fixes that need ironed out (like the save and load features). However it is playable and looks fantastic, giving homebrew gamers a morsel to chew on.

Tecmo of
Dead or Alive fame will soon be giving PSP owners in the UK a taste of the joint-powered
Tokobots. Play as Bolt who is a man on a mission to keep the tiny 'bots out of the hands of ill-suited treasure hunters who are trying to exact their plans for world domination or something to that effect. We know you won't be picking it up for the narrative, so when this rolls into the UK, puzzle/platforming/action fans will have something to muse over.

Yesterday Gamespot put out some fresh screenshots of the virtual pet-inspired game
Neopets Petpet Adventure: The Wand of Wishing. The images do a great job of showing off the third-person visuals and what we might be able to expect aesthetically. And speaking of expectations, the title will be shipping on the 28th of next month.
Get ready to grab your pet and battle it out ad hoc style.

It's being developed by team Omega Force and will also implement multiplayer challenges as well.

In some more list-it fashion, CNET has compiled an index of the top must-have titles for the PSP. The ten games are filed in alphabetical order, so there's no other hierarchy to it. If you are a new PSP user, you might find this useful. However if you're a veteran, chances are you already have these games.
At any rate, the list still provides a solid vantage point to see what's hot on the portable system.

Silver Platter is boasting itself as the first indie label for UMDs on the market. They specifically hunt for content that is best suited for the UMD format and then distribute and market them worldwide. Such full-length features they provide are

Could this be a turn for better priced movies on the PSP?
