So it turns out that the idea of UMDs aren't any more popular in Japan than it is here in the States. When are they going to learn that poor ideas sell poorly? In any case, that won't stop them from trying. In a couple of months, Neon Genesis Evangelion 2: Tsukurareta Sekai will be released over there. But not by itself. Neon Genesis Evangelion: DECADE, a 10 year anniversary memorial box, will be tagging along for the ride. This little bundle includes the videogame plus two UMD disks featuring the movies Death & Rebirth and The End of Evangelion. Import aficionados should look for Shinseiki Evangelion: DECADE -- 10 Shuunen Kinen Memorial Box to ship this Stateside.

I think people would probably buy the UMDs if they started actually putting good movies on them and not just whatever crap came out on dvd last Tuesday. We want UMDs of classics like Star Wars (the originals), the Godfather, and Lord of the Rings on umd. I don't know anyone (not even a chick) who wants a umd of the Pacifier.
This Evangelion thing might be a step in the right direction. How about the Cowboy Bebop series on umd. I'd get that. I have a feeling we're going to have to wait for sony to sell more 4gb memory sticks before we start seeing quality movies on umd.
And how come I never see these things at Blockbuster? I don't know anyplace where you can rent UMDs.

BeBop is on UMD, so is Samuri Champloo, Ninja Scroll, The New Appleseed, La Blue Girl, and a whole bunch of other classic anime. Stop shopping at Wal-Mart and you'll see

UMD's are stupid. Id rather buy a dvd and change it to mp4 format if i wanted to watch it on psp. Umd's are going to go down the same path as mini disks.
