When one of our readers mentioned back in
November of last year (after we asked the question of what titles our loyal patrons would like to see
come out for the PSP) that he’d like to see the Metal Slug series make an appearance on our handheld,
we had no idea it was going to happen for real. This week's GDC, the lone event responsible for setting off hype for the
coming gaming year, was also the venue where SNK Playmore confirmed that the PSP would be receiving its own Metal
Slug compilation series this November under the title Metal Slug Collection. The collection will contain Metal Slug, Metal Slug 2, Metal Slug X, Metal Slug 3, Metal Slug 4, and Metal Slug 5 and will feature 2-player co-op play. Whether that’ll be over ad-hoc or via infrastructure mode, they’re not telling, although we’re guessing it’s the former.

NICE. After Capcom Classics today, and now a Metal Gear Collection, I'm in retro heaven.
But November? Gah.

Retro heaven? If you want to go to that shabby place, buy a GBA. A high-end portable like the PSP should be less retro and more groundbreaking.

EXCELLENT! One of the main reasons I use the Neo CD emulator on PSP is to play Metal Slug 1 and 2... Now we have ALL of them coming on one disc! Bring on more Neo Geo games compilations! The AES Neo Geo system is my all time favourite games machine.

I agree with #2.. Then again, The PSP's sales are Dropping like a Bomb, due to lack of Original Feature. The Webbrower is what brought it home for me. If retro is what you want...Download Homebrew Emulators >_>

Uh, show me how to emulate Metal Slug 3,4, 5 and X. NGCD cannot emulate them. Do your research, son. What is an "Original Feature"? I'm sure you're in the vast minority when you say that the PSP web browser is a huge selling point.
Anyway, don't try to tell me that releasing classic collections keeps developers from creating original content. That's extremely naive thinking. Did you even read my post? IT'S POSSIBLE TO DO BOTH.

Very good news. Love the Metal Slug series, one of the best franchises from the old SNK. Just hope they do them in true widescreen with no stretching. Metal Slug X is my favorite in the series, with MS3 a close second.
