Lots of Metal Gear Solid fans
freaked out when they found out that the PSP-exclusive rendition of their favorite series was turned into a strategic,
card-based game more similar to Pokemon than Splinter Cell. Fortunately, the game was received
somewhat well by the general gaming population, and undoubtedly led to the creation of a sequel, Metal Gear Acid
2, less than a year later. But is the follow-up still worth looking into? Most everyone says, "Uh, I guess
so."Metal Gear Acid 2 features a gaggle of new cards as well as smoother, more refined game play. Although if you never took a shine to Metal Gear Acid's style of play, it's safe to say that its sequel won't impress you much either. The addition of the gimmicky but workable Solid Eye peripheral may sway a few skeptics out there, however we really can't imagine anyone would feel particularly enthused about the game based solely on the add-on's inclusion. But hey, if you love Snake's mullet enough, half a day staring at a screen smooshed a few inches from your face may be an endeavor not too difficult to manage.
- 1UP (9.0 / 10) - "It still won't be everyone's cup of tea, but if strategy, gambling, comic books, and espionage are high on your gaming wish list, this might be the perfect portable title for your needs."
- GamePro (4.0 / 5) - "With all the improvements and tweaks to the gameplay system, it's hard to really find anything really drastically wrong with the game other than personal taste. If you have the patients [sic] to play a methodical strategy game wrapped around an action game facade then Acid 2 is for you."
- GameSpy (4.0 / 5) - "Metal Gear Acid 2 shows that the switch to turn-based play was a sound one, after ironing out the wrinkles in the first game. This time around, you'll play MGA 2 not for the name on the box, but for the content inside -- and you'll leave much happier."

I picked up MGA2 last week and I am addicted! On the day after I got
it, I basically spent more then half of my day playing it! I don't know
why I'm addicted to be honest, I can't really name anything on the
top of my head, maybe its because I'm playing Megaman Powered Up right
now. At any case I have borrowed the first one a while back and the only
thing I noticed so far is that its a lot faster or more streamlined if you
will. Now if you don't mind I have some PSP gaming to do :p.

I loved the original MGA. I thought it was perfect for the PSP, although I was amazed how many hours it took to play it - and it's supposed to be for a battery-powered gadget? I basically need to be plugged in the entire time so that I don't have to keep recharging the damned thing.... but I guess that's the way it is with all the games on the PSP! It took me 5 days of playing 12 hours at a time to finish the game.
MGA2 may be the sequel update, the 2nd game and so on - but I don't think it's as good as the 1st. MGA2's story seems rushed and the characters sort of run along all-assuming - it's set up in a way that tells you it knows that the player should know the story from the first, that the player is used to the game-play from the 1st. But I hate it when they do that - it leaves details out - even the smaller bosses are not that difficult to beat and there just aren't enough in-between levels! There aren't enough smaller levels where you HAVE to do something to get to the next big level.
They got lazy with this 2nd game. It's not as well balanced as the first. They made the normal levels not as detailed or difficult to beat - because it's darn near impossible to beat the final Metal Gear level. The guns are weak and the cards don't rotate enough quickly to the ones you want, even if you have gone through the deck editor. That's what I mean by saying it's not balanced - it's lopsided to the end. I won't say much more about the Metal Gear battle cos I don't want to ruin it for everyone...
The 3D thing is OK to stare at for about 2 minutes and then the novelty is gone. Plus it'll give you a blinding headache!
The cartoon colour schemes are so damned fluorescent and bright, my eyes were flashing afterwards. I don't like the new colour scheme - the natural scheme of the 1st game was much better - may be that's why MGA2 feels so short - they knew it was going to give people a headache so they rush you through the game.
