There's a Star Wars Battlefront game coming out, and it's exclusive for PSP. Titled Renegade Squadron, this new action game will feature an a "never before told" story that takes players through new missions and new battles that spans the classic trilogy (Episodes IV to VI). Han Solo has been recruiting "battle-hardened rogues and scoundrels" to fight the tired-and-true evil Empire. This ragtag team will travel throughout the Star Wars universe. Some of the levels include: Ord Mantell, Boz Pity, Korriban, Sullust and Saleucami. There will also be new space battles at Kessel, Hoth, Bespin, and the remnants of Alderaan. Star Wars mainstays, like Endor and Hoth, will also be returning.
Renegade Squadron promises to provide a greater customizable experience than its predecessors. Players will be able to choose their own weapons, equipments and abilities. A variety of vehicles will be available, including the Millennium Falcon, Darth Vader's TIE Advanced, Slave I, and the Jedi Starfighter. Capitol ships can be controlled as well.
To top it all off, Renegade Squadron will also feature 16 player Infrastructure multiplayer, with leaderboards, stats tracking, and profile pages. With such robust online features, Renegade Squadron looks to easily outdo the PSP version of Battlefront II. The game is planned to release this fall. Battlefront 2 was a really BIG seller on the PSP(almost a million in the US alone) and I'm all for exclusives, especially with infrastructure..BUT WHY IS IT SO N64-UGLY? Battlefront 2 looked significantly better.

I thought the screenshots looked pretty good. Although, I can't compare them with the previous game, since I never played it.
I'm excited about this. :) I'm also glad it's not another game based on jedis.

Hard to judge from just this picture, but there's a definite N64 Turok-ness to the fogging and textures. It is a work in progress, however - and I'll consider buying any game that has decent infrastructure support.

The key phrase is "exclusive for PSP". That alone is great news. 16 player infrastructure on top of it? I'm not a Star Wars fan, but I'm looking forward to this.

That's wicked. First "the Force Unleashed," now this. LucasArts showing the love for our handheld!
Battlefront II was my first PSP game and I loved it. I realize now that it chugged a bit compared to other titles, especially when there's lots of them explosions ... but hey, I'll take the explosions!
I could do with a little more, and maybe they've learned a thing or two about the platform. Well clearly they did, seeing as they only had Ad Hoc on the last one.

16 player infrastructure? EXCELLENT!
I actually liked Battlefront II, save for the sparse plot and modes.

I for one am hoping they come out with a Jedi only game for the PSP. Besides the aforemention Force Unleashed, I'd like to play something like Jedi Knights: Jedi Academy where you can play a GOOD Jedi.
I didn't like Battlefront II and returned it the next day because I lost patience with it not wanting to be a clone trooper but wanting to play as Mace or one of the other Jedi's.
I didn't have the patience to play through a game I didn't like to get to play what I thought I would be able to do right away when I purchased it.

It is funny as the resident 'bitch about load times' guy that this has been one of my faves since day of release, and is always in my portable UMD case in my computer bag.

Battlefront II is still one of my favourite PSP games because it's so easy just to pick up and play (despite the long loading screens) It doesn't compare to the PS2 version but it's still good.
I'm going to be picking this up despite the many games I already need to buy ^_^
