Those higher capacity Duo sticks some of us have been waiting for are on their way. But, not unlike anything else having to do with Sony's rich portable, it's going to cost you a pretty penny. A press release has revealed that the 4GB Memory Stick Duo is going to retail at around $250. Kind of makes you want to stick with what you have. Expect this item around July. Can't wait to hear more about the 8GB version.

The 8GB one will, of course, cost $500.
Plus your soul and the souls of your children and grandchildren.

The 1GB was $250 when it first came out, and the 2GB cost $400 when it first came out. Now you can buy them for $60 and $140, respectively. The cost of these mem. sticks drop dramatically over time and as Sony releases higher and higher storage capabilities in the mem. sticks.
I wouldn't be surprised if the inevitable 12GB mem. stick retails for $200 in a year and a half, two years at the outside.

Theoretically, that's what the price should be but i wouldn't be surprised if it was $450 tempting us to buy it because of the money/memory ratio.

Actually, Sandisk has announced their 4GB MS Pro Duo's as well, but to be available in March.
IMO, the $250 isn't all that bad for a starting price point. As some have stated, smaller capacity MS Pro Duo's started out at a much higher price point. This could be awesome in a PSP for movies or in a SE Walkman phone, like the w810i :-D

ummm...250 is a bad price...the 4gb NANO (flash technology, mind you) is the same price. I'm starting to think sony will never understand.

The Sony branded ones might cost 250, but I bet when the sandisk branded ones hit they'll be listed as cheaper and will be found online for probably close to 150 when they are readily available a month or two after they first hit... i mean that's what i've noticed with the 1 and 2 gb pro duos - they are said to be 200+, can be found around 150-175, then drop month after month... I mean you can find 1gb duos at real stores for around 60 now and online they have 2gb duos for 80 after rebate... check it out

Give it six months and they'll be going for just over $100 on ebay. Whether or not it's the 4 or 8 gb we'll see.
