Best Buy offers extra battery with PSP purchase

It's not too much of a deal ... especially because you have to buy a new PSP system. However, Best Buy is now smartly offering an extra 2200mAh battery with the purchase of a new PSP console. The 2200mAh battery contains about 20% more life than the standard battery, which will allow you to squeeze in some more playtime out of your system. With games going to utilize 333MHz soon, an extended life battery doesn't sound like too bad an idea ...

Deal of the Day: Rockstar gets really cheap

This week's circulars are highlighting the PSP price drop, and some fantastic deals on some great Rockstar games. The Warriors, which received a prestigious 8.5 review from PSP Fanboy, is getting even cheaper, dropping down to a mere $15 at Circuit City. Sure, it's a port--but it's a mighty fine game on the handheld.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories is also entering the Best Buy bargain bin this week: it'll be available for a mere $20. Who said PSP games had to be expensive?

Deal of the Day: $2 games at Best Buy

Your local Best Buy is trying to get rid of its old games, and it's doing so in a big way: they're having a clearance sale, and games can be found for as low as $2. This deal's been making its way through the Internets, so your local store may have been pillaged already. Regardless, you may want to make an attempt at grabbing what you can: at $2, even a not-so-great game like Death Jr starts looking pretty sweet.

Deal of the Day: Lumines II, now only $20

Did you miss out on Lumines II? Most likely. Although we praised the video-enhanced puzzler, the game didn't seem to be different enough from the first Lumines to warrant a purchase for many. However, those of you that missed out on this great game now have no excuse: Lumines II is only $20 at Best Buy.

From our review: "Although the core mechanics of the game remain unchanged, the new skins, and sleeker presentation make it more than a worthwhile purchase, even for people that played the original extensively. However, with no infrastructure option, and some puzzling user interface issues, it's sad to see that Lumines Ii isn't as perfect as it could have, should have, been."

Deals of the Day: even more cheap software

Although this week's PSP releases aren't too exciting, don't fret. I'm sure you've missed a couple of high profile games that hit the PSP in the past few months. Best Buy and Circuit City seem to be busy competing each other for your holiday dollar. Here are a few of the highlights for PSP owners:

Luxor for $30 $20

Liberty City Stories now a Greatest Hit

It appears that the first GTA PSP game is now a budget Greatest Hits title. Best Buy lists the game with a $20 price tag and the trademark red banner on top. At this price, the PSP version now competes with the PlayStation 2 version of the game, and still retains PSP-exclusive features like multiplayer. Liberty City Stories may feature slightly worse graphics than the Vice City follow-up, but with a better storyline and funnier missions, this might be the game to pick up for GTA newbies, especially at such a bargain price.

Deal of the Day: Gradius Collection $15 at Best Buy

Deal of the Day: Gradius Collection $15 at Best BuyIf you're like me and have recently been bitten by the old-school gaming bug on the PSP, you'll be happy to hear of a nice deal at Best Buy. You can currently snag Gradius Collection for only $15 by using Best Buy's Gamer Gift Card.

You see, the Gamer Gift Card gives you $5 off a $20 or higher game. All you do is buy the gift card, put a few bucks on it and use it to slash a quarter of the price off any $20 game. Pretty easy, huh?

And with the recent news of Konami releasing more classic shooters, picking Gradius up will just get you all the more ready.

Deal of the day: NBA for $10 at Best Buy

Deal of the day: NBA for $10 at Best BuyOne of my favorite parts of a new year is the mass price drops of the previous year's sports games. Now with the upcoming release of NBA '07, it looks like NBA is getting the price-cut treatment as Best Buy has it listed for the extremely low price of $10.

While the game has an average score of 57 at Metacritic, for $10 NBA is most likely the cheapest PSP game around, and it's probably worth a Hamilton.

Best Buy steals your money with GT4 preorder

Over-enthusiastic fanboy-reader buzaw0nk saw pre-orders for Gran Turismo Mobile available at BestBuy.com and rushed to secure his copy. I mean, it comes out November 1st! And at $40, it doesn't seem like too bad of a deal, right?

Wrong. It appears that Best Buy just wants your pre-order deposit. Gamestop.com doesn't have the game in their database and neither does amazon.com. The last time Sony even spoke about Gran Turismo for PSP was in January, when they "delayed" the game. To make matters worse, the game doesn't even appear on the (admittedly incomplete) TGS showing they have planned.

buzaw0nk, just cancel your pre-order before Best Buy steals your money for good. I'm guessing this game (if it ever comes) won't come out for a very long time.
