Monster Hunter 2nd G ships 1.5 million in less than two weeks
Something about the game doesn't translate well to the West and it's not clear whether we'll see 2nd G be released outside of Japan. With sales figures like that there's very little need to. We don't see it slowing down anytime soon, either. Could Monster Hunter 2nd G outsell the original in a single month?

m8ks mi wonder why Capcom rather pump out contents for MH rather than improve the controls/ camera.
Tried it before and the camera and control scheme sux, to me, its like the camera is worst than tat of Dynasty Warrior
but frankly, thankfully and miraculously that PSP's sales has been pushed so much in japan by just this game.

It's the camera. It's horrible. Without a second analog controller it requires a button press to reset it to your character's viewpoint. That's very irritating when it comes to hunting monsters that may be behind you, to the side, etc., and rushing you.

Personally, I rather like the camera scheme. I think the limitation is with the PSP itself, rather than the controls. There just isn`t a second analog stick, so you really have to make do with what you have. I`d MUCH much rather have full and quick access to items via the right buttons than control the camera with them.
Unless, of course, you mean that they camera should be locked to the character`s front view. They had a setting for that in the original online beta. (We took part in it...) Trust me, it does NOT work well. When you`re running away from the monster, it`s pretty much necessary to have the ability to watch behind you, and quickly rotate the camera if it jumps over you or in another direction.
Lock-on has never been considered an option as it takes away from a huge part of the game play - just finding the monster and keeping it in your view.
I guess a lot of people outside Japan just really like to have things made easy for them, which would totally defeat the whole design of the game.
It`s supposed to be hard. You`re supposed to be able to brag about having actually killed something or other because it requires actual player skill. Not just lock-on and slash...
The only point I have felt any frustration with the camera is that the view resets when you`re thrown by the monster... But, apparently that is part of the design and is somewhat realistic if you think about it. Who can keep their eyes on the enemy while being thrown 20 feet? The game tries to stay "realistic" in it`s own way, so it works VERY well.

If it comes to having to import this because of no UK/US release, does anyone know if it still plays in English (the text and mission info I mean) or do you have to be able to speak Japanese..? I really would like to play it. Oh, and do you need to have played MH2 first?

Ok here's how you do it: You control the movement with your thumb on the analog stick, while your index finger controls the camera on the d-pad, right and left. The left shoulder button is thus only needed to access items.
The real question is: Are you all idiots or are you lacking fingers?

If Capcom wanted to see sales for this game go up out here in the US, they're going to have to add infrastructure. and as far as i can see from the countless posts and comments from MH fans, that's the game's biggest limitation- no online support. that's a shame because playing this game with your buddies is the whole meat and potatoes of the experience. thank goodness for KAI!!!
