On the brand new Square Enix
members site,
Crisis Core's director Hajime Tabata noted that they couldn't fit everything they wanted on the limited size of a UMD disc. "In regards to the story, due to schedule and [UMD] memory concerns, a good deal of it ended up on the cutting room floor. Originally, the episodes were much more detailed. We also considered implementing a multiplayer competitive/cooperative mode using the PSP network function, but again, this wasn't realized due to scheduling concerns."
This being Square Enix, of course, we wouldn't be surprised if they ever released a "Director's Cut" version of
Crisis Core, which adds all these features that were removed. Sadly, fans like us will have no choice but to buy the game (again!).
Another addition made to the Square Enix website is this frustrating mini-game. Check it out after the cut.

Very nice mini-game. Reminds me of the squat competition in Wall Market's Gym.

Finally got it! Phew!!! That was annoyingly hard, but worth it just to know whether a 1600 x 1200 version is available. There isn't one. The Wall Market contest was wayyyyy easier.

The wallpaper you get from that minigame isn't worth the trouble of playing it. Links to the different resolutions for anyone who doesn't really want to bother with it:

PROTIP: HOW TO BEAT THE SQUATTING MINIGAME:
For those of you who couldn't beat the minigame (like me), I just discovered an exploit: Using a laptop's clickbar, use your middle fingers and jam them down in alternation (left, right, left, right...) RAPIDLY - so fast that you feel the burn. It took me a few tries but once I stood up and really went at it with my arms jabbing straight down, I got it. This is similar to another's suggestion of "having a seizure over your mouse," although I am sure a clickbar makes it much easier, especially a broad one like my Macbook's. It's an exploit because you throw the timing out the window, and instead are getting so many cps (clicks per second) that it hits every part of the bar and registers every time. The trick reminded of that old Jackie Chan Adventures game on Foxkids.com where you had to totally spazz out over the spacebar to charge Jackie's punch. I broke a sweat on that one as a kid! Let me know if this helps, and does anyone know of any other Final Fantasy internet minigames? The only one I can think of is the Final Fantasy XII tile-sliding game at Gamestop, which won free shipping on FFXII. But that's long gone by now.

Well for one, the minigame is very difficult; if you play by the rules that is... But as far the opinions I heard about FFVII Crisis Core not being that good because of the party issue. I want to say that FFVII was the absolute greatest game ever created and it totally changed my opinion of what a good game really was. I just don't understand why the makers of the game don't spend like... 1 hour just browsing sites with gamer's comments and see that the respones and posts about the first FFVII are all that needs to be said. It is even stated on the back of the game in bold type: "Quite possibly the best game ever made..." And that quote stands true all the way now in 2008. I CANNOT at ALL understand how you can go from FFVII to FFIIX?!?! That game was terrible. And even all the others, good in some aspects but NOTHING (nothing) compared to FFVII. I do think it was a very good idea to make the new FFVII (Crisis Core) explore more in depth the history of Cloud. But to COMPLETELY change the game play, that was a very big move. And then, to eliminate the ability to form parties, and equip different weapons and change the leveling up sequence and materia growth formula, come on!! Just too much. But the game is visually nice and actually quite fun (mostly because the majority of the true gamers are hardcore FFVII fans) but still. It DEFINATELY could have been better; but hey! it most certainly could have been worse. Sorry to ramble on, I am just a HUGE (huge) fan of FFVII and just kind of; like a lot of you seem to think, feel the game could have been more in depth and a little longer. Hey, I would not mind if the game was 18 discs! So long as it had the same amazing gameplay and addiction of FFVII. It's too easy to become ultimate in Crisis Core. Any real FFVII fan will respect another game who was able to defeat Emerald and Ruby with no sweat. But do you guys feel Minerva is "...the hardest boss in FF history..." says the players guide?? Because I definately disagree. I just want to hear your opinions. Sorry I wrote so much, I just have passion for what I'm talking about. -Rob
