May i be the first person to reply and say this looks to be one of the best Square-Enix games of recent times. To be 100% honest, every game after FFIX has been below expectations, and that includes FFX, FFX-2, FFXI, FFXII, FFXII on the DS etc. Crisis Core is not bad, but was never ment to be better than FFVII, just to complete the story.
This game however, is a FF Fanboys DREAM. Everyones favorite characters fighting to the death.
Seeing Squall in those graphics made my jaw drop, i cannot tell you how amazing it feels to see Squall in such good graphics.
I can only hope FFVII, VIII & IX are remade. Zidane looks great too.

Remakes of FFVII & FFVIII would so rock(FFVII mostly) I could do without FFIX remake, but as long as 7 & 8 come first I wouldnt complain.
But Get FFXIII on the PS3 I can't wait for that. This looks pretty good to all the best characters Awesome!!

This game looks awesome, and I certainly love the Squeenix PSP love, but I sure would have enjoyed seeing all those characters in PS3 graphics...

remake this and remake that! wouldn't guys or gals rather have square-enix create original games? why do you wanna play something you already played? (an don't say because of the visual upgrade)
anyway, the game looks cool. but needs more characters from the nintendo era of final fantasy. meaning, ffI - ffvi.

well i'm gonna go ahead and say it... 70% of the reason i'd replay the remakes is because of the visual upgrades. it's a legitimate reason too because a visual makeover can create a new experience on a second playthrough. i'd like to see some originals too... just finished playing through TWEWY. while it's not s-e, i'm looking forward to white knight chronicles. the more rpgs the better, remake or not.

I never got to finish FF VII, so yeah, I want a remake. Going back and playing PS1 games, now matter how good, is just too painful when you've got such nice looking ones as X through XII, and now the soon to be XIII on PS3.
I did that for Silent Hill several years ago before PS3 was out and although I don't regret it, it was too painfully hard on the eyes and I wouldn't do it again.

I'm still on the fence about this one. If the battle system works I may pick it up. But I've never seen Square succeed at anything but RPG's. Fighting games are very difficult to do right. Many end up broken with people spamming this or that. We'll see, should be interesting.

It's not an RPG, and you did say you've never seen Square do anything decent besides RPGs. Einhander is one example of that, and Bushido Blade is an example of another.

Indeed. I am unsure about the battle gameplay/mechanics as well. Everything else, of course, looks top notch. Usual Squeenix rooftop quality.

Anyone else surprised that they just confirmed this for 2008? I thought that all the speculation was for FF13 + FFV13 + Dissidia + KH Birth By Sleep would all take until 2009 to ship.

It would be nice if they could bring David Boreanaz back for Squall. I've always thought that the dude who does Edward Elric's voice, could do a good Zidane.
