We'd like to give a big shout-out to our friends at Penny Arcade. Their most recent comic is about the reality-bending PSP/PS3 title, echochrome. After trying out the downloadable demo hosted by PSP Fanboy (thanks for the links, guys), the duo had to share their latest obsession. echochrome is but one of many reasons why they've been in love with the PSP: "The system has been on a roll for awhile now, even if the common wisdom hasn't really caught up to the fact. If you like traditional or tactical RPGs, it's practically become the destination of choice. It's been delivering on its technical promise fairly dependably, and I can vouch for a lot of the content, but I still wonder if people in general want games of this sophistication in their pocket."
Well, we're pretty sure the readers of this site want the best possible gaming experience on the go.

Last I checked, GoW:CoO wasn't a "traditional or tactical RPG", a phrase from that paragraph which you apparently didn't comprehend.

I honestly didn't care for the echochrome demo. I was excited to get to play it and then once i gave it a shot, it was a huge let down. In particular, there was one stage that had a lower level and an upper level. I moved the stage so that they appeared to be connected (with another portion of the stage visually blocking the connection) but it didn't work. I was sad.

In all seriousness though Kspray does have a point. I've never seen anyone using a DS in public that wasn't a little kid. One parent I saw was using it apparrently as a teething device even. The kid just kept chewing on it, dropping it, she'd pick it up, repeat.

Lol the demo was kinda annoying with the whole "tutorial" thing, and it took a while to get to each stage cuz you had to wait for the frickin' guy to fall and stuff.
AND you had to go through it all, just to replay those last few levels =/
They BETTER have some sorta level selection lol - which I'm sure they do.

I dont think PSP games are all sophisticated games at all. I think, the good PSP games have some short burst of fun, such as PATAPON, LOCOROCO, WipeOut, Lumines. Although, now, there are much more sophisticated portable games such as GOW, KZ: liberation, FFT, JeanDarc, and Disgaea. Still..I love my PSP. Although I do see more people with DS even around my university campus, mostly woment tho.
