Months after the US and Japanese release, Europeans were supposed to enjoy
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops today. To make up for the excruciating delay, the PAL version will feature
new content not available in the other releases, such as new characters, maps and missions. However, it appears Europeans will have to wait a little bit longer, as the game has been delayed yet again. Why? According to
Pocket Gamer, it appears that the box art artist forgot to include the BBFC (the UK equivalent of the ESRB) rating for the game.
Without a rating on the
box UMD, the game will not be sold at retailers. Whoops! This is a strange mishap, to say the least. It looks like European gamers will have to wait just a little bit longer as Konami fixes this mistake--but you guys are used to waiting, right?

how STUPID do you have to be to forget that thing? Geez. what are they thinking?
But Kudo for putting extra content in to justify the delay. it might even be worth the weight.

Second time this has happened in two months, what with the The Godfather: The Don's Edition having to be recalled on the PS3 because they put '18' on the box but '15' on the disk.
It's not that difficult to proof-read these things, is it? And especially with the marketing budgets and people that these companies employ...

Well I was in Tesco at lunch time, and they had 2 of them on the shelves... I was thinking of getting it, as I could have gone through the self-checkout - so i'm sure that some retailers will still be selling it...

It's not like you can buy the UMD without the box--I say there should be a rule where whatever's on the box wins.
Who's with me!!!!! SPARTA!!!!!!
...and thanks for not using a picture of a kitten for this one.

@4:
I bought Burnout Legends a few months ago, it had M (Australia's equivalent of US's T) on the box but it had G (E evquivalent) on the UMD. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be recalled, but I got it like that.

Actually, it varies. Some games use PEGI, some BBFC. Everyone who preordered it was sent theirs. *Kicks self for not preordering*

PEGI is used across Europe and is voluntarily used by game publishers. It's not legally enforcable in the UK either.
If a game has significant video content or violence above a certain level, it should be submitted to the BBFC who will then give it a rating. This rating is legally binding and must be put on both the case and the disc.
