Whoops! Metal Gear Solid forgets rating; no longer on sale

Months after the US and Japanese release, Europeans were supposed to enjoy Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops today. To make up for the excruciating delay, the PAL version will feature new content not available in the other releases, such as new characters, maps and missions. However, it appears Europeans will have to wait a little bit longer, as the game has been delayed yet again. Why? According to Pocket Gamer, it appears that the box art artist forgot to include the BBFC (the UK equivalent of the ESRB) rating for the game.

Without a rating on the box UMD, the game will not be sold at retailers. Whoops! This is a strange mishap, to say the least. It looks like European gamers will have to wait just a little bit longer as Konami fixes this mistake--but you guys are used to waiting, right?

Monster Hunter Freedom 2 announced for Europe [Update 1]

No surprise here. After selling 700,000 copies in its first week in Japan, Monster Hunter's sequel is set to dominate the rest of the world. Or, at least Europe. According to a new press release from Capcom Europe, "Capcom plans to release this game as Monster Hunter Freedom 2 across PAL territories in September 2007."

While no US release has been announced yet, we're expecting an official statement soon. Certainly, Capcom USA wouldn't want to miss this excuse to literally print money?

[Update 1: The US press release states that the game is coming to the States in September as well.]

PAL gets exclusive Metal Gear content

My mom always said "Good things come to those who wait" and my dad always said "You just wait around for good things to happen to you". Well because of Konami, I'm now going to ignore everything my dad ever said to me. IGN is reporting that PAL territories will be getting Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops content that neither Japan or the US got.

The original game's content will be joined with twelve new characters, new maps and new missions. That's not all though, there will also be a Boss Battle mode which the point of should be fairly obvious. I only hope that at some point this content is made available as a download for current owners of Metal Gear. Check IGN for the more details.

Capcom Puzzle World releasing to the PAL crowd

In September, all you PAL puzzle fanatics out there will get a nice compilation of Capcom's finest titles, including Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, Block Block, and Buster Bros. Collection (which includes Buster Bros, Super Buster Bros and Buster Buddies). Personally, I've never played any of those games beyond Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, but seeing as how I don't live across the pond, well...it doesn't really apply. The compilation will feature ad-hoc gameplay across all titles included and will also allow you to upload scores to a friend's console, along with a screenshot mode to prove that you've got what it takes to bust blocks with the rest of 'em.

Now how about releasing it in America Capcom?
