The upcoming PSP-exclusive airplane racer/shooter, MACH, has just come out in Japan. I was pretty excited about the game, but looking at GameTrailers' latest footage was a little underwhelming. The game reminds me a lot of Nintendo 64's Diddy Kong Racing: don't these planes feel a little too slow for you? And shouldn't there be more consequences for running into things?

I think it looks pretty neat, I wonder if the speed was intentional. If you was to go too fast then would you be able to control the craft well enough to navigate the course.

I went to the official page and watched one of the gameplay videos #2

It seemed like the race was even faster. Maybe its just me, I wonder if you can upgrade to faster Jets, maybe fly slower ones towards the beginning

Personally, I would have preferred a port of Fatal Inertia. That's how that gameplay trailer feels like.

wow. even the computer was running into walls. your in a jet, you know, flying through a canyon. bumpin into walls apparently matters not to you. that does seem pretty rediculous. nothing happens, i couldnt even tell if they slowed down as a result. it looked kinda slow, but on the link trekster gave, the 2nd gameplay video looks like your going faster.

If you watch Trailer one then it explains how you can upgrade your plane, this kind of explains the video listed by this site. Referring to the comment about running into walls, well this is an Arcade game so I am sure physics and realism is not why you want to play. both of the ingame footage from the games official page
http://www.machpsp.com/us/
really give a better idea of how the game is

Yeah, but if you we're gonna' turn into such physics-devouts over this, then we should also be pondering why combat aircrafts are 'racing', and that too, inside the constriction of a canyon.
I wouldn't let the veneer of the game - combat aircrafts, cloud its genre: Racing. Forget the physics, because it's a racing game, not a simulator, or even an arcade simulator. And trust me, a racing game wouldn't be fun to play if your 'vehicle' keeps blowing up from every bad turn and graze.
Yeah! yeah! I got the game. It's fun!

Somewhere between Wipeout and Star Wars Episode One Racer. Still, looks good to me.

eh, yea major realism isnt a point they're stressing or anyone really should be.
i loved playing games like this in the arcades. man those were great.
@Kade, dont forget that not only are the jet/plane things racing inside a canyon and through waterfalls, but they're also shooting missles at each other. haha

...yeah, damned armaments! I can't believe how bitchy people are getting over the genre-related quirks of this game. It's a fun game, and it looks good!
