Eurogamer is reporting that a special edition of Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core might be on the way to Europe, or at least to the UK. Although Square Enix has yet to officially confirm it, UK retailers such as Gamestation have already begun hosting details about the special ed on their websites. Called the "Special Pre-order Edition," it will come in nice slipcase packaging, and will also included a 48-page hardbound art book. The special ed is available only when the game is pre-ordered at regular price; so there's no multiple pricing schemes going on -- just reservations.
If this does indeed prove to be true, it seems like an enticing little incentive for Europeans not to purchase the North American version soon to release in less than two weeks. Especially since NA has a fixed date and Europe has a vague spring release, we suppose Square Enix needs something extra to keep crafty Euros from importing. Well, an art book and slipcase sure do beat our UMD cases.
[Update: You can now see the special edition on the official Crisis Core website. Nice.]

They really need to start standardizing the free stuff. I am tired of hearing better packages and free stuff for other countries.

Matt is 100% correct. I mean, i live in the UK so its kinda funny that we actually (for once) get something better than the people in the US. But on a serious note, i imported the limited FF7 PSP for £220 ($440) and felt ripped off but my fanboyism ment i HAD to buy it. And now i have the Japanese version of Crisis Core, i WANT the US version for the UMD case, and i've got the English version of Crisis Core on pre-order. I'm not going to order the US version, but it really is very obvious Sqaure-Enix is all for the money. They're doing special editions in each country so importers are paying 3x + the amount to buy each continents special package. It's getting ridiculous...
So as i say, Matt is right. They need to just release one big bundle the same everywhere, plus they should start releasing games at the same time worldwide. I know the European continent has so many languages and it takes ages to change the dialogue on the game, but still...

Well I just preordered it. Can't ruddy wait! I don't even know much about it other than it's an RPG and it's a bit awesome.
FF7 is the only FF I like too. Good to see a worthy sequel to such a stellar RPG.

Chances are it's real, but to keep on the safe side, it's always best to wait to hear it directly from the horse's mouth.

I like preordering cheap things, forgetting all about them and then they arrive one morning. It's like putting a fiver in a coat pocket and just forgetting about. You don't lose any money but when you find it you're a fiver happier!

insane257 : than you have no idea how bad things are in East Europe ... in Romania for example , an avarege monthly payment is ~ 400 Euro , while a new game retailes at 50 and may cost as much as 70 ...

Alien: That's normal. Your country is no different to mine... It just depends on how much you earn. I earn £320 a month and games cost £40 a game here.. So it's the same thing. Of course i understand how much games cost. It's ridiculous. Thats why i dont buy many games unless they're £20 ($40) or less.

Mine varies since I work freelance, but normally I won't buy a game more than £25 unless it's Brawl or something.
With the average wage in the UK being £300 a week it's not hard to buy a £30 game. But theres just so many other things like bills and taxes siphoning it away.

I wouldn't expect amazon.co.uk to ship to USA.
You'll most likely have to do it from ebay or something.
Im glad that UK finally gets something for waiting for so long.
I can actually put my PSP to good use instead of gathering dust in my drawer.
