Expectations are high for the upcoming God of War game on PSP. The development team behind the critically acclaimed Daxter found themselves enthralled with God of War on PS2 during development of the PSP game and made an easy pitch to SCEA to make their own GoW game. "The first meeting just went like 'we should make a God of War PSP game' and they were like 'yeah you should.' And that was pretty much it."
Unfortunately, it looks like Chains of Olympus will be the last PSP game from the talented team at Ready at Dawn. "This team is ready to move onto something pretty big, and we've be planning it for quite a while, and this team needs to show what they're capable of doing on next-gen or current-gen." While we'd love to see the team continue their magic on PSP, it will be interesting to see what Ready at Dawn will be able to produce on even more powerful tech.

I wouldn't take anything from anti-PSP site 1UP seriously. They rate almost every single game significantly lower than the meta average, sometimes unbelievably so. And their PSP hating readers eat it up -- Look at the rabid hater comments after the article: 'psp is shitty' and 'it's too good to restrict for psp owners'...
I see nowhere in this article where they expressly forbid the notion of a future PSP game from RaD. RW says that team may be moving on to next gen or current gen for that team - but they could have other teams, other projects after this. Hell, their next game could be a total disaster for all we know. What does it matter? This is one dev house, and there's plenty of others out there. The mention of staff shakeups and so forth just underscores that dev teams are fluid, and what works once or twice may not work a third time, at least at the same place.
Why this needs to be spun up and emphasized as bad news for the PSP is confusing, when the overall message from these guys is overwhelmingly positive -- that the PSP is as capable and powerful as a current gen console like the Wii, that it's capable of a full blown game like GoW (with few sacrifices) in the first place.
...Getting a little sick and tired of the whining and naysaying, here. It was obnoxious when PSP Fanboy was relatively new and had a different (and pessimistic, sarcastic and nigh unto anti-PSP) crew -- and I am seeing the same attitude developing all over again. Please try to report some actual news, and try not to get too wrapped up in the slant that the PSP bashers at 1UP try to slap on an otherwise AWESOME game from a great developer.

A quick question "on next-gen or current-gen." When I see or hear the term "next-gen," I think of the Wii, the Xbox 360, and the PlayStation 3. Well, what's "current-gen"? I guess you could say that that would be the PS2, GCN, or Xbox, but that's not current anymore. What's current is what's also considered next.
Unless Ready at Dawn is working on a launch title for the PlayStation 4.

Well, let's just say that some consider the Wii's graphical capabilities to be "current gen" compared to the power of Xbox 360 & PS3. So that's why RAD is sort of straddling the "current/next gen" description when hinting at their project...
That's my guess... that they're talking about porting Okami to the Wii.

The Wii's graphics may not be up to par with the 360 or PS3, but the term generation refers to time. Since it was released in the same time frame as the Xbox 360 and the PS3, it is in the same "gen."

Well lets hope that they will move on to the PS3 ... still the best thing would be if they would become exclusive 1st party PSP developers :D

I would like to see what they could do on the 360 myself. I wonder though if GOW makes them a ton of cash on the PSP will the consider a larger company that would allow for continued support of the PSP?

[email protected] has the potential to become as good as Nintendo when it comes to making games. They fully understand each platform they work on and are fully capable of pushing it to its limits.
I wish the best of luck to [email protected].

Well from what rumors are saying RAD is working on a PS3 game. So that really is not that bad. Plus I want to see want RAD can make with more power. They have already made some great games and now there games can be even bigger. So that will be cool to see.
