How did they make the PSP smaller? The first Japanese ad for it uses an analogy ... they had to squeeze it to be 91 grams smaller.
Certainly, the new PSP doesn't look very different from its predecessor. Sony will have to its very best to educate customers on why they might want to consider purchasing the newer, slimmer PSP. Do you think this ad does the job? (Even though it's in Japanese?)

Would rather have seen content (movies/games/internet) squeezed into a smaller package and then fitting inside the P2000.
This ad makes me think that they are squeezing the PSP and getting very little (ie content) out of it.

Sony's advertising has been extremely poor for quite some time now. Why can't we just let the content speak for itself instead of crying babies and rope squeezing?

That's exactly what I thought. They should show the old PSP on a treadmill or working out and then weight itself and be lighter, hence the new PSP.

As much as I like towel squeezing in general, it kinda suggests that it's "one drop of water" lighter... like, as in "not even noticeably" lighter...
Am I being too litteral? Well maybe whoever does their crap ads should try being f***ing more literal for a change!!!!

It has a good idea , but maybe if they would show why the squeezing is needed ( not just weight loss , ex: the TV - out functionality ) .

farfisa, I agree, I noticed that too. It's like they were trying to go for a certain cool way to show something, but what happened is, you start with the PSP-1000, have a guy grunting, trying his hardest to make the smallest improvement, and bang, PSP-2000. They really could use some better people in advertising, it seems.

I like the concept, I think it's clever. My problem with the ad is that you can barely get even a glimpse of the device--are they afraid people will be scared away when they see it isn't a DS?

I noticed that at the end of the Ad, they advertised the release date as being 9/20...are we still getting it here in the states on 9/10 or is this our notice that it has been pushed back?

Sony need to do what Nintendo did with the DS lite, and market the psp 2000 with adverts that show gameplay of bestselling games.
It was the "touch generations" idea that helped the DS lite in the UK at least, and Sony need to do something similar maybe an ad based on the Go! branding that sony are using for the Uk camera/GPS/video download services
