If you've got to have your soccer on the go (or football, if you're anything but American), then you might want to reconsider
FIFA '08 for the PSP. It's getting a pretty big overhaul in terms of gameplay, which to us means EA might actually care about this title more than we think. The PSP is gaining manual controls to create precision when it comes to through-passes and crosses as well as complete control over the goalie in one-on-one situations. If that's not enough, you can create your own strategy down to the location of every player on the field, assigning them different offensive or defensive tactics.
Manager mode has also been changed and a new mode, Quiz mode, has been added. The former now includes pre-season friendlies, a training option, and board expectations that change depending on your performance. Quiz mode is fairly obvious -- test your knowledge! Who knows, perhaps Quiz mode will include questions about each of the 30 featured leagues, 30 locations, or 12,500 recreated players. It sounds like EA is taking steps to dribble this title to success, so keep an eye on it!

@Chris - you said it. If it wasn't for my country making the world cup for the first time, I would have skipped that stinker. While there were minor upgrades to the overall look of an EA soccer game for PSP, the gameplay itself was choppy. Personally I've never liked EA sports games...ever since PS1. Something ALWAYS seems to be just a bit off with their controls or realism (in terms of game physics). There's usually ALWAYS a better sports game by someone else. The last time they made a good sports game was NHL '93 for Sega Genesis...and I really mean that too! (That game rocked at the time and had great controls)

Why does it seem, since fifa 98, that ea is playing catch up to winning eleven/pes? Sure, they throw an inovation here and there but the gameplay itself is just a bad copy of pes now... Even in fifa 06 they had the "dynamic controller style" which was exactly we/pes's controller style (O for lob, square for shoot). Oh and 'Alien', WE/PES has been hurting ea's sales in asia and europe for a while now, they're still the big dog in the US only because americans don't know about football :P.
