I'd like to apologize for not running this feature last week. I could not complete it due to an illness.
Q: Is Final Fantasy VII: Before Crisis coming out to PSP?
A: No. We find it suspicious that of all the media organizations at the event, only Next-Gen would report on something so significant. While other PSP sites simply reported this as truth, we haven't seen any indication that the game is coming out on PSP. There's no mention of it on any of Square Enix's press materials, and Next-Gen refused to return our e-mails on the subject. While we'd love to see it ported, chances are slim.

For PSP? We wish ... but for now, it's not true.
Q: Are there any VOIP-type homebrew applications for the Sony PSP, like something along the lines of Skype?
A: You would think, considering PSP's ability to do VoIP easily in headset-enabled games. However, we can't seem to find any homebrew methods of VoIP. For those lucky enough to be in the UK, a new official service will be coming out soon. As reported earlier, hints of a Skype program were found deep in the official firmware. We're pretty sure SCEA is going to get their act together and offer a similar service in the future.

Q: The MLB 07 The Show demo doesn't work. Every time I download it, the folder is empty. Please help!
A: We provided mirror links hours after the story went live because the main download proved problematic. However, since we're revamping our demos page, we replaced the broken link with a new one -- enjoy!
Q: If I buy a movie off of iTunes, will I be able to play it on my PSP?
A: No. Those movies are protected by Apple's unique DRM and can only be played back within iTunes or a video iPod.
Q: Is there any homebrew to transfer files from one PSP to another?
A: Yes there is. Check it out here.
Q: I do not have a PSP but will be getting one shortly and I was wondering if you have any information about a PSP 2.
A: Sony's not going to release a PSP 2 any time soon. However, they may release a redesigned system. There are always rumors, and the latest reports suggest it should come around the end of the year. There are a lot of games to play until then, and we don't think a redesigned PSP is going to be any cheaper than what you can get now. Our recommendation? Get the system now. You may wait indefinitely for a PSP redesign.
Q: Does Andrew play any PC games?
A: Although I did recently build a new gaming rig, I don't play too many PC games. Essentially, my time is spent on any version of Half-Life and Unreal Tournament. The upcoming Crysis looks incredible, and I'm glad I finally have a machine that will be able to play it.

Yes, please.

For the iTunes question, just use QTFairUse. It converts an MP4 (protected) to an MPA (unprotected), then you can rightclick on the song in iTunes and convert to MP3. Any quality loss from recompression would not even be noticed when played back on a PSP. Now that I think about it, when the hell is Sony going to have a firmware update that includes an EQ for music playback?

Hmmm.. that Next Gen seemed to have a massive PSP hater vibe so who knows.. youd think someone must have told them something, cause if they were going to make that up you'd think theyd name some system they actually like.

@ Mike: If he has an unencrypted M4A, then there's no problem playing on the PSP. The PSP has support for MPEG-4 Part 3 (AKA: MPEG-2 Part 13), better known as AAC. Transcoding from AAC to MP3 is a really bad idea since you'll lose a significant amount of audio quality. Not a "loss you wouldn't notice," because it depends on how good your hearing is. To me, second generation transcoded audio (and video) is like fingernails on a chalkboard. Just stick with the AAC/M4A. Less hassle, better quality.
Just a quick correction to the article: The ˚TV (Or AppleTV for those of you who have busted UNICODE support) is capable of playing back encrypted iTunes videos. Not a major issue, but worth noting.

Oh, sorry, I spotted one more thing. The question about Ad-Hoc file transfers: your link takes them to iR Shell 1.2, which is over a year out of date. The latest version is 2.2, and can be found here: http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/785

since we are on the topic, apparently breaking DRM is illegal. so here's a question. To combat piracy, they do it by restricting PAID user's ability to use things they paid for?
That's MPAA for ya. It's like asking a begger "since you don't have money for a burger, why not go eat some lobster meal?"
