- IGN (90/100) "It's packed with fantastic single-player content, has a strong multiplayer element, boasts a great visual and thematic presentation, and excels with razor-sharp gameplay mechanics."
- Yahoo! (100/100) "For the last two titles, the developers of Ratchet & Clank have done a wonderful job building full-featured multiplayer support into their games. Size Matters is arguably the best attemt to date. Although it only supports four players at a time, the maps and modes are meticulously build to wring the most out of multiplayer matches."
- 1UP (70/100) "If you're looking for a game that matches the quality of the previous games in the Ratchet franchise...well, keep looking."
Not sure what game 1UP was playing, but they're the only one to even give the game anything close to that score, so if you're a fan I think you need to check out Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters.

To bad that for example GS gave it only an 8.2 , that will ruin a bit its overall score :(

I not sure what's going on with 1UP lately. They panned Killzone as well.

I've only been playing it for about 5 hours, but so far I think it's a great adaptation of the original. The biggest drawback is definitely the lack of a second analog stick. Using the L and R buttons to rotate that camera and having to use the D-Pad for strafing isn't as intuitive or easy as having the second analog stick. Other than that, though, I think it's a pretty good addition to the series and have been having a ton of fun with it.

1UP has one or two reviewers who pan any PSP game they come across. In fact, I think every site has one or two of those -- some people just really don't want to cut Sony any slack, these days.

I don't think Sony should be cut any slack but people need to realize when they,or developers for their system's, do something right. Ratchet & Clank is something that is done right.

1up was nothing a few years ago. What has changed?
Most online review sites are barely above the standard of user submitted reviews. Metascores make utterly insignificant writers seem larger than they are.
Rotten Tomatos at least offers a small selection of reviews from the highest rated reviewers so that folks like us can quickly cut to the chase.

Well, I agree that technically no company should be 'cut slack' too - but I think Nintendo gets cut a lot of slack by critics and writers... In part because they have been the underdog for a few years and their IP driven marketing has inspired a tremendous amount of loyalty and fondness for their characters.
Sony has made some idiotic mistakes and Nintendo made some popular and effective moves in recent months, but on the whole I think the general online game community is giving Sony a disproportionately hard time.
My friend walked into Gamespot the other day and had to listen to an anti-Sony tirade for about 15 minutes while buying a PS3 game. How Sony was going down in flames, the PS3's are all being recalled for burning up, etc. etc. -- Sony hate and FUD is rampant.
Thus, some critics buy into it and it colors the scores. I firmly believe Metacritic and Gamerankings would show more AAA 90+ PSP games were it not for this phenomenon.

Of course, the opinions you're putting out are in direct conflict with the facts you have put out about the average score of PSP games being higher than DS games.
As for 1Up, there have been numerous editorials there about trying to use the whole score range, rather than the typical '7-9 scale'.

Please point out exactly which facts I'm 'putting out' here conflict with the fact that there are more 70+ or 80+ metascored PSP games.
What I said here is simply that more PSP games would be 90+ or 'AAA'. I believe currently Metacritic lists no PSP games as 90+ whereas the DS has two: MK and Advance Wars DS (the latter of which I do not feel deserves it).
If anything, the fact that Metacritic shows the PSP with 43 (-1 Final Fantasy movie) 80+ titles vs. the DS with 29 (-3 of 4 Nintendogs titles) 80+ practically begs the question why the PSP doesn't have a couple of 90+'s under its belt. I say it's Nintendo favoritism.
You're welcome to disagree with that, but I'm certainly not contradicting myself.
