The PSP took a whopping 31 nominations this year in 1UP's annual "1UP Awards." The DS, on the other hand, only received 22. I think this site trys to get as much dirt on the DS as possible. They are both great handhelds. The DS just so happends to be better according to statistics. My opinion is that they are equally fun systems.

I doubt I will ever use 1up.com or Ign as a credible source....

According to sales the DS is better, but the PSP would win overall if based on statistics. It has more AA titles and just as many AAA titles as the DS does, it also packs around the same amount of battery life when both are on a comparable screen brightness, UMD format holds over 4x the data that the biggest DS game does and we've seen that when developed correctly, even technically astounding games (something it has over the DS as well) can have minimal load times.

Silver, on the brightest light setting on my DS Lite I'm still getting at least 9 hours of play, something I can't expect my PSP to do at %75 brightness.

No. My DS gets 5, maybe 6 hours TOPS with the light on full. It's an established fact that the DS Lite gets slightly worse battery life on full bright.

What 'statistics' - sales? Sure, sales are strong as hell. Doesn't mean it's "better" for everyone, or that the games are inherently superior.
As for any online vote, expect the DS to win every time. Nintendo fanboys are the disproportionately vocal majority online every time. If online polls were truly indicative of anything other than fanboyism, the Gamecube would've wiped the floor with the PS2 last gen.

Two things:
1) That is mostly because the Ds screen is brighter.
2) Oh my god, I can't believe pixelator owns a DS. The day of reckoning is upon us. Everybody run!!
