And tell me something, can't someone buy a ps1 game, then get the file from the mem stick and upload it on the internet? =u

They're digitally signed. Whoever buys the game, can then upload to up to 5 unique PSPs. The game will not run on any other PSPs.
DRM is the dark future.

Not idea, but some games were bound to be better suited than others for PSP porting. The L1/L2 controls probably won't even be an issue for some titles... But they need to be careful about which games they port.
The transfer time sounds ridiculous. Were they doing it on a 300 baud modem, or what?

Yeah, that transfer time is INSANE. I loaded 2.5 GB of MP3s unto my PS3 in about 15 minutes, so I have no idea how it took this guy an hour to transfer 500 MB.

Jeez, I hope they reduce the size of games... you could only fit 4 games on a a 2GB stick..

Benjamin, most of the games are considerably smaller. The article on Joystiq: http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/22/from-psone-to-psp-via-ps3-a-sony-love-triangle/
shows the next largest title at just 380MB, which isn't bad considering it's Resident Evil Director's Cut. Tekken 2 had a LOT of FMV fot a game outside of the RPG genre. Sony could have put a severe squeeze on the footage to save space but chose to preserve the quality. If, as I suspect, they use the original renderings to produce new MPEG-4 material, the FMV sequences could look far better than they did on the original PS1 hardware.
Depending on your tastes, you should be able to get plenty of games on a Memory Stick. (Note that Fry's has recently offered a 4GB unit for $80 after rebate and prices will continue to drop.) Even if you find the need for multiple Memory Sticks this still offers a farm more conveniently portable library than individual UMDs.

Couldn't they use that nifty little usb port and create an external L2 and R2 button for games such as these? Come on modders, where are you?

I am wondering if the redesigned psp will let u just save the games on to the hard drive from a umd or from downloading from the online store(in the future i hope). like they are doing for the ps3 games to have less load times... cuz even tho that video showed tekken loaded up in a few seconds i also taken into account that it is a ps1 game and not that technical to do on psp... wat do u guys think?

Well, the R2 and L2 buttons would only be used in Tekken 2 for macros of other moves. No real loss there.
I'd still be playing Dark Resurrection, though.

If you guys have tried downloading RSS videos or ... anything actually, onto the PSP, you'll find that the combination of 802.11b wireless (11mbps) and the "relatively" slow low-power cpu makes downloading files very painful. A 3mb file on the PSP takes forever, which only takes seconds on my computer. Uploading from PC to memory stick is better, since it is recognized as a usb drive by your PC. This could be the result of poor coding for the PSP browser/RSS-feeds or maybe just limitations of the PSP hardware to transfer data quickly from RAM to memory stick. The faster you download, the faster your computer and bus speeds should be to accomodate it.
Sony should let you download from PC to PSP, do they?
