The Metal Slug sprites have always been among the best in the business. There's so much expression in those hand-drawn hooligans that it's tough not to fall in love with the game purely on graphics alone. But the simple, yet highly addictive gameplay is what has kept my interest in the series.
IGN has just released a couple new screens of the game, which was previously known as Metal Slug Collection, and while they don't really show anything new, they do show more Metal Slug goodness, and that's always a good thing.
Metal Slug Anthology is a collection of six games in the series: Metal Slug, Metal Slug 2, Metal Slug X, Metal Slug 3, Metal Slug 4 and Metal Slug 5. The game is set to ship Nov. 7, 2006 and will support two-player wireless multiplayer.

Awesome! Didn't this game come out a long time ago for some system of which I don't even know the name (and couldn't find even if I did)? I read about this game in GamePro when I was a kid and have always wanted to play it. I'm glad I finally get the chance.

The system you are thinking of is the Neo-Geo AES. Still love every minute of it. Most people are not aware that games have been released for this system as recently as this year. SNK was still using the same hardware until earlier this year when they finally switched to Sammy's Atomiswave arcade console.

Heh, I'm impressed. Screenshots of a 10-years-old game! This is definitely worth a news post. :)
Ports can kiss my ass, there has finally good *original* stuff arrived for the PSP. Field Commander, Untold Legends (2), Syphon Filter, Killzone: Liberation, etc.
I'm a Metal Slug fan, but I can play those on my GBA, I don't need a 250-something bucks PSP for that ;)

Don't hold this against me, but..Metal Slug is probably the best side-scrolling shooter series in recent years.

What, you don't already have one? :)
The only GBA title you can be referring too is that terrible Metal Slug Advance game...They're planning on porting the first four to GBA, but the first has been constantly delayed. Why not just get them all in one with multiplayer come November? :)
