Coming in October, NIS America's upcoming release of Mana-Khemia looks to bring some very standard JRPG fare to the PSP. It's been a while since a traditional RPG has arrived on PSP, especially so shortly after a Japanese release. We're keeping an eye out on this one, if only because there are so few games to actually look out for in the immediate future.

I actually miss a lot playing nice JRPGs like back in the ol' days. So this is just what the doctor ordered, for me.
I'll be really looking forward to this one.

The DS still seems to be cranking in the RPG dept, but if you look at both DS and PSP, there are a TON of new RPGs for handheld systems. It's funny, because RPGs and "portable gaming" don't seem to work together, because _normally_ you want a quick, light game when playing on-the-go, but a nice meaty RPG is great on my console on my TV.
Oh well, no complaints... I'll take 'em!

Hmmm, I'm the opposite. I like RPGs on portables beecause I can't spend more than an hour or so in front of a TV anymore (just get restless), while with a portable, I can play it wherever I want

True enough, and I'm becoming the same way, mostly because all of the new RPGs are hitting handhelds first...
Still, I find it a little harder to lose myself in a game when playing it on the PSP (and certainly on the DS, because the graphics are generally not so terrific...)

It's just a bummer though that all it is, is a straight port of the original game. ~_~

It's not EXACTLY a straight port. At the very least, some new bosses and co-op play have been added to the PSP version.
Couldn't tell you if there's anything more than that, though.

One bonus dungeon built specifically for the two player mode may not be a complete port, but it's pretty close.
There's no REAL expansive new content. I'm going to buy the game regardless, the more money NIS America has, the sooner I get Mana Khemia 2.

I'm excited. There haven't been many old-school JRPGs lately, even on the DS . I don't know why people are so into the new-school action games in RPG clothing.
Now get off my lawn.

You mean you don't like constantly mashing the attack button in games like Kingdom Hearts?

I really do. I'm still hoping for a special edition PSP with just the D pad and one button. I mean, why have all that extra stuff when all you need is "attack"?
