You saw the video. Now, buy the system!
The special limited edition Final Fantasy VII slim PSP is now available for pre-order at Play-Asia. But it'll cost you a pretty penny: $400. You'll be paying more than double the amount for a non-Final Fantasy-engraved system. Is your fandom willing to go to the depths of your wallet?

My fandom is certainly NOT worth $400, plus shipping.

LOL! Amen to that, GoBob! I know Jem's going to buy one--but I certainly can't afford to buy that. That's like a month of food!

My fandom is worth that. Luckily for my wallet, my fandom does not include part 7. Not that I hate 7 or anything, but it's most certainly not my favorite nor do I find the art all that appealing. If it were for FF6.... I'd strongly be considering it.

It might be worth it if I was a Final Fantasy Fanboy *and* this would play USA region UMD movies.
As it is, neither is the case - and I am sick of passing up cheap $10 flicks that I could be watching on vacations in my RV without dealing with toting DVDs everywhere.

even as (probably) the biggest FF fans here, I wouldn't pay 400 bucks for that. NO WAY.
and this is supposed to be 'promotional'? way to treat your most loyal followers.

Ahh... FFVII...
I remember when the game came out, I had my dad drive me to 3 different Sears stores here in Chicago because I had a coupon for $10 bucks off the game (I saved my allowance to buy the game and the strategy guide, after all). When we couldn't find it, we rushed to best buy and I was able to snag their final copy. Afterwards I spent every free moment I had playing the game. Even skipped school on a few ocasions because I would be at a point in the story that couldn't be interrupted by mere schoolwork. When I finally finished every side quest, maxed out every materia orb and bred and raced every kind of chocobo you could think of, I started all over again.
Needless to say, I am a HUGE FFVII fanboy. I bought the soundtracks, the toys, whatever FFVII merch was out at the time. So I'll probably be getting this too.
It sucks that Square realized that they could get away with charging prices like this because there will always be people like me (about 77,777 of us, actually) who will buy it because the game meant so much to us.
Ah well, maybe I can sell my old PSP to offset some of the rap... I mean cost.

Take a silver PSP, slap a FF logo and picture on it, then jack up the price. You have a collector's edition! Let the fanboys empty their wallets! Nice marketing technique, Squeenix.

It is Play Asia raping you not Square or SONY. The announced price was supposed to be approx 225 USD.

Square isn't jacking the price at all. It's a fairly priced bundle similar to the Star Wars bundle here. If I had to guess, I'd say Play Asia is the one gouging. That or PSP prices are just higher in Japan.

Meh. I'd rather trade in my old one for when the new Star Wars edition comes out.
