Ask PSP Fanboy is back with an all new edition. Every weekend, PSP Fanboy will answer your burning questions. If you have a question for the team, send an e-mail to andrew @ joystiq.com with the subject "Ask PSP Fanboy."
Q: HELP NEEDED, AFTER I UPGRADE TO 3.52OE, ALL MY GAMES AND MOVIE COULD NOT BE DETECTED. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHERE TO PLACE THE FILES OR DO I HAVE TO CREATE ANY FOLDER IN ORDER FOR THE PSP TO DETECT. THANK YOU.
A: Whoa, watch it with the Caps Lock, buddy. It sounds like your Memory Stick may have been reformatted. However, check by connecting your PSP to your PC. You should be able to browse the contents of your Memory Stick. If there are no files in it, then in your PSP go to System Settings -> Format Memory Stick. If there are files on your PSP, remember to have a folder named VIDEO for your videos, and a folder named PSP. Under the PSP folder, create a new subfolder called SAVEDATA, and make sure all your game saves are there.
Q: Will the new firmware on the PSP Lite be homebrew-accessible (hackable)?
A: New PSPs will come with firmware 3.60 installed, so it will not be immediately hackable. However, homebrew coders recently were able to exploit the firmware up to version 3.50 using Lumines. It is possible that later down the line, firmware 3.60 will be vulnerable, but who knows how long that'll take.
Q: I know the PSP will be able to output through component, but will it have a composite output option as well?
A: Once again, the new PSP will be able to output through composite (SD), but you will not be able to play games through that connection. You will need component cables if you want to play any PSP games on your TV.
Q: Do you know if the Ice Silver PSP will be offered in a core package on the same day the Piano Black Core Package is released? Also, will the Daxter Bundle Pack come with Piano Black also, or is it only for Ice Silver?
A: If you want the Ice Silver PSP, it appears you will need to get the Daxter pack. The Daxter bundle will only come with Ice Silver -- no other color options. Later down the line, you will be able to pick up system colors a la carte.
Q: Are there any plans to make a PS Fanboy forum with mods and admins?
A: Currently there are no plans for a PS Fanboy forum. The closest we have is our group on Facebook. It is something that I wanted to do for quite some time, however!
Q: Do I need a PS3 to download PS1 games?
A: Yes, in order to legally download PS1 games off the PlayStation Store, you will need a PS3. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that'll change any time soon.
Q: What's your all-time favorite game on PSP?
A: Crush received the highest review score from me on the site, earning a 9.5. However, I still think my favorite game is Gitaroo-Man Lives! The game is so endearing that I can't help but be captivated every time I play. It's one of the few UMDs that has been permanently part of my UMD travel case.

I'm sure he's referring to the M33 firmware. Let's face it, it was built by reverse-engineering the OE original code.

No that would likely be the N00bz team to come out with a downgrader.

Thanks for answering my question Andrew, but the answer bummed me out (question #4 for anyone curious). Oh well, I'll go for one or the other when it's released.
You need component to output games?! That sucks! I can only use composite. But I thought games are displayed in a lower resolution than, for example, a UMD movie which is encoded in 480p. Why can the movies be displayed through component and the games not? That just doesn't seem to make sense to me.
