Q: How do you find out what motherboard model you have?A: TA-082 motherboards can be detected by opening your UMD drive. If you see numbers like the ones pictured here, you have a TA-082 motherboard.
Q: Hello, i have had a PSP for about 5 months and can't even use it. I am so confused.
A: The basics on how to use your PSP can be found here, on Sony's website. Remember to put music in the MUSIC folder, and videos in the VIDEO folder. For game demos, make sure you are following all the instructions. Make sure you are extracting zip files and when doing so, make sure the EBOOT file is the first thing in the folder. There should be no sub-folders, or demos will not work.
Q: What ever happened to Metal Slug Anthology for the PSP. I can only find the version for the Wii.
A: The PSP version came out a few months ago. Did you try reading our review? Personally, I'm not a big fan of the PSP version. It features some technical bugs that keep it from being as good as it can be. The game should be available in stores. Have you tried online retailers?
Q: Assuming of course you are careful with both, in your opinion, what does the least wear and tear on the PSP: plugging and unplugging the USB cable in the PSP (non replaceable part) or inserting and removing the Memory Stick (replaceable)?
A: I do both, and my launch PSP has been fine. If you're really worried, I would say the Memory Stick cover has the most likely chance of breaking. Honestly, it shouldn't matter though.

A: Last we heard of Gran Turismo, an analyst predicted that it would arrive this year. Considering how the PSP's full power is finally unlocked, we think it's possible. Hopefully, we'll see something at E3.
Q: What are the chances that Sony will merge its Walkman brand with the PSP? If not that, at least some better playlist management so that we can create and change our own music playlists on the go.
A: A Walkman-branded PSP seems unlikely. However, you CAN create your own playlists for PSP. It just takes a little know-how. By default, when you have songs listed in a folder on your PSP, it will play in alphabetical order, based on file name.

I completely disagree about Metal Slug Anthology being so so. IMO the game really delivers all that you love about the Metal Slug games, and it has them all in one complete package. The only comparision is to the consoles. If you check www.gamestats.com you will see that the PSP version faired just as well as the (other consoles).
A good review for this game can be read here as well.

As far as a question of the user that has had a PSP for 5 months and can't use it. OMG! If you read the manual or can type in a URL then you most certainly can use a PSP. That question makes the PSP appear hard to use for noobs and does not shed good light on the PSP.

I have to say, that question was f'ing retarded...I'm sorry dude. Insert umd, click game icon, and PRESTO! Putting music on it is pretty straightforward as well. However, putting movies on it was tricky using the older firmwares. Also, considering you need 3rd-party software to convert them.

I have another suggestion for ordering your music:
Put your PSP into USB Mode, and go into its MUSIC folder. Right-click any track, and rename it with a number at the beginning. Use numbers in their order before what songs you want in what order, and it works out on your PSP. For example,
001 - Master of Puppets.mp3
002 - Iron Man.mp3
003 - Voodoo.mp3
etc.
It will be in that order.
Makes sense to me.

You don't have to make a playlist, simply editing the name of the song will do it. And if you have the mp3s/wmas properties set properly then the actual song title and artist are still shown. It would probably take less time to do this if the properties are already correct. And being a fan of the Death Note anime, I noticed the title error.

Thanks for posting my question regarding the playlist. I didn't know about the m3u8 methodology. It's neat, but needlessly tedious.
Creating subfolders is easy, that's a given. Naming songs alphabetically is also easy, that's a given. What really needs to happen is being able to create playlists on the go! Walkman-style playlists are pervalent in most new Sony Ericsson phones, so I can't see it as being too far-fetched of an idea if it was present in the PSP too. I mean, it doesn't take that much coding to replace the folder system with virtual on-the-go playlists.

Yeah, -5 points for Sony by making the PSP not so user-friendly. I mean, I knew how to put music and movies on and such since I have experience with such devices. But if was newly into these types of devices I'd be at a loss of how to use it...
Of course the flipside of that is that you can do a lot of stuff with the PSP. The demos and PSX games were one of the most impressive things.
