Could it be true? Could Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core actually be coming out? After years of development, this hotly anticipated prequel is ready to strike Japan on August 2nd--at least, according to GameFront. Their source? Apparently, the most recent issue of Jump reveals the startlingly early release. However, as no scan was provided, we have our doubts.
If this release date holds true, EGM's Rumor Mill recent story about a year-long Crisis Core delay would be debunked. Certainly, with pre-orders already reaching overwhelming limits, an earlier release would be wise. We're keeping our fingers crossed. Until we find out more, join us in drooling at these new direct-feed screenshots at Ultimagame.com.

...it had better be long, and it had better have other traditional RPG elements - free-roaming; world map, etc, along with the real-time combat, of course.

I still want this game, oh so much I want this game. From what we've seen of it so far, it looks phenomenal. The graphics are amazing, especially for a PSP title and we already know that Squenix can make really good action-RPGs.

I want this to be good. I also wanted Dirge of Cerberus to be good, but I was let down. I'm playing FF7 once more on my PSP, so I'm psyched for Crisis Core, regardless.

I really hope this game is revolutionary for the psp, and doesn't end up to be another Dirge of Cerberus mistake.

My sentiments go with vR. I mean, I don't whether Square is really good at action-RPG; I only recollect their best efforts as turn-based-RPGs. This is why I'm worried, because I'm really looking forward to a solid hack and slash experience, but I worry that the game will be -too- linear and short - the hack and slash stereotype. What I'm trying to say is that I hope it doesn't turn into a sort of quasi-Streets of rage, with amazing visuals and RPG stats. I want character development, interaction, dialogue, freedom - the kinda' stuff that engrosses one into the typical FF-world.
Sadly, that RPG-feel was an in-and-out thing for me when it came to Dirge of Cerberus, because it tries so hard to replicate that immersive experience, but still ends up locked within the curse of a relatively linear third-person-shooter.
