Sony and Nvidia have been friends for quite some time. While AMD provides the graphics technology behind the Xbox 360 and the Wii, the PLAYSTATION 3 is powered by Nvidia. Considering their partnership, Sony fanboys pay close attention to new moves that Nvidia makes. It appears that a recent job listing calls for a senior eDRAM design engineer, which is used extensively in video game consoles (including the PSP). The chances of a new eDRAM product to be used in a PC is slim, increasing the likelihood that a new video game product from Nvidia is nigh.
Considering Nvidia's exclusive relationship with Sony, any new video game product coming from the studio will most likely be an extension of the PlayStation brand. Considering how the PLAYSTATION 3 just came out, it seems unlikely that they're actively designing the PS4. Is a redesigned PSP, or a successor to the PSP, in the works? ps3gamer14 from the 1UP boards makes a good argument for it, but until we get more concrete evidence, this is simply speculation, at best.

Maybe I'm missing something, but the job posting says absolutely nothing about game consoles. Nvidia has dabbled in gaming chips for mobile phones in the past, so I don't see why this couldn't just as easily be for such an implementation. Hell, it could even be for PMPs of some sort. Sony makes mobile phones, Sony makes PMPs, and Sony makes all kinds of other similar devices.
The job description even says it involves "Transistor level circuit design for Graphics processors and other ASICs targeted at desktop, laptop, workstation, set-top box, wireless and home networking markets." No mention of gaming there.
I don't know why people automatically assume that every development from a company involved in the PSP's supply chain means there's a PSP2 on the horizon.
Samsung announces some new RAM? Must be for the PSP2!
Nvidia announces some new graphics processor? Must be for the PSP2!
Sony announces a new Memory Stick format? Must be for the PSP2!!!!1
Sharp announces a new LCD screen? Must be for the PSP2!!!!111one
Honestly, it's getting old. Believe it or not, those other companies do actually produce other components for other products.
There's a difference between speculation and just making random guesses because you want "credit" on the internet.

It's entirely possible you're way off base... but I really hope this is for the 'PlayStation Walkman' that PSPFanboy themselves predicted would arrive this year. I'm actually holding off buying a Wii (charlatan!) in case they release the 'PSW'.

I sure hope not. I just got my PSP after waiting for the games to catch up with the system. I don't want to have to splunk down more moola. But I would welcome someway to hook it up to the tv and play my games on my big screen. Even my son's LeapFrog Max allows for that.

My bet is that there will be a new PSP: the PSp (PlayStation Phone). Sony is going to battle Apple.

I hope against this assumption. The current PSP, in my opinion, has yet to reach its own maximum potential, and it would royally suck if they already move onto a next-gen unit.
