Apparently, Famitsu is reporting in its newest issue that Riviera: The Promised Land, a GBA tactical RPG, will be ported to the PSP later this year in Japan. The new version will feature voice acting, new illustrations and other events within the game.I'm sure the haters are going to complain this is just another port in a long history of ports, but I've heard a lot of good things about Riviera, and it seems the game will be upgraded a bit, so please don't start the biotching. The PSP needs some more good RPGs in its library by any means necessary.

I finally know why asian people are always smiling in any comic or illustration: I've been thru lik-sang's asian PSP game list and noticed that they HAVE F***ING AWESOME GAMES in Japan! I would like to cry like a baby. There's even Magna Carta for PSP! I bet Riviera will stay Japan-only for some time, too. And they got Monster Hunter Portable (instead of "Freedom") that supports online-play. I really need to improve my (very lacking, at the moment) Japanese skills.
After that, I'll start a company to translate japanese video-games to English and German to bring these asian goodies to westerners! Harr!

Little-know fact: the GBA version of Riviera was a port, too. It came out on the Wonderswan Color about three years before that, and Atlus localized it for us when it was remade for the GBA.
Kind of odd it came to America at all, since it's an RPG with both dating sim and rhythm elements. Then again, Atlus DID give us Thousand Arms, so...

daniel-kun: That's exactly what Victor Ireland said, and did! Such a shame Working Designs folded. One can only hope Gaijinworks will continue to bring the goodies to North America.
And yeah... Japan's PSP title selection is much more appealing if you enjoy Japanese style games (i.e. rpgs, sims). Go figure! I hope IGN's "TBA 2007" listing on Jeanne d'arc is true! If not, NIS had better port it. They _completely_ dropped the ball by cancelling Makai Wars and porting Blade Dancer and Generation of Chaos instead.

Sid: It is odd indeed. Then again i'm not complaining if Atlus USA decides to make a gamble. Translating Disgaea was their brainwave and it paid off in spades for us. The latest Atlus title i'm thanking the translation gods for is Rule of Rose. I played through a fourth of this not knowing a lick of the plot. =)

Hey this is great news! I was planing on picking this game up for my future GBmicro but if its coming out for PSP then I'll hold off on the GBA version...if Atlus decides to bring it here. Do I need to beg again?

It's actually not that fun of a game. But I do remember that when the girls are bathing, you are given a choice to either let the bathe, or peek at them. If you peek at them, you get to see some stuff....
Yeah, anyway, it was a fun game and all, just not all that immersive....simple, or easy I would say. your heath is replenished after every fight and stuff.
