Ntreev Soft: Pangya "probably" coming to the US

Over at Siliconera, it seems another golf title has been stumbled upon. This one's called Pangya and is Ntreev Soft's brainchild -- originally a strange sort of golf MMO for PC's. It plays similar to Hot Shots Golf, so for those who are well-versed in golf gaming, you'll know what to expect.

All the characters from seasons 1-4 are expected to make it into the PSP version -- seasons being, like, "expansions" from the original? Whatever. The game will hit Korea sometime this year with a US release thereafter slotted into the "probably" category. We just hope a game that's all about playing golf online will stay true to that and allow PSP gamers to play against others online.

[Thanks, Joe!]

Super Swing Golf Pangya could be coming to PSP

Pangya!

The ultra-popular Korean online golf game may find itself on another home. With the PC and Wii platforms already conquered, it looks like PSP is the next target for cutesy Korean golf gaming. Zach M. from Siliconera noticed that a Korean music composer listed the game on his website. He's worked on previous Pangya games, and the addition of a PSP version leads us to believe that one is in the works ... at least for Korea.

It's not uncommon for musicians to leak a game in development. In fact, that's exactly what happened with Secret Agent Clank.

Sony to buy stake in Gamepot

Sony to buy stake in Gamepot Sony Communication Network Corp. has announced it will buy a 27-percent stake in Gamepot, (No, not Gamespot or Gamestop) a mobile content and solutions provider, for about $22 million, according to Gamasutra.

So-net says the move will broaden its online games operations.

In addition, Sony Communication, which operates So-net Internet service provider, will purchase 8,200 new shares of Gamepot in a third-party allocation. It will also buy 15,000 existing Gamepot shares from Aeria Inc., Gamepot's parent, a Reuters report stated.

Gamepot made a name for itself by publishing the popular online fantasy golf game, PangYa. I doubt this will have much of an impact for anything coming stateside, but it's encouraging to see Sony continue to take online gaming seriously.
