With the PSP Brite coming out today, it seems like retailers are ready to slash the prices of their old inventory. The Madden NFL 09 Entertainment Pack, which includes a cool blue limited edition PSP, is today's Amazon Goldbox deal. Originally retailing for $199.99, you can now purchase exactly one bundle (offer is limited to one per customer) at the discounted price of $169.98 with free shipping. Like all Goldbox deals, the discount disappears when the allotted number of the product has been sold. Take advantage of the deal here.

Yeah, we all know the story -- Brett Favre pulling a fast one out of retirement and signing up with the Jets. While football fans may have been ecstatic over the news, it was a move that left Maddenites with an outdated cover for Madden NFL 09. However, not wanting fans to remain disappointed, EA has a backup play to counter Favre's surprise blitz.

If you head on over to EA's website, you can download a free, brand new cover for Madden 09 which features Favre sporting a Jets uniform. The covers are high quality PDFs, so you just have to make sure you have a good printer and some glossy paper to make the cover look legit. Might want to stop by Kinkos for that. Download the cover and replace it with the old one if you so desire.

Madden NFL 09 PSP Entertainment Pack coming this fall

This is certainly going to draw a large crowd here in the US. Football lovers love Madden, and this new Madden PSP Entertainment Pack looks to be an excellent value for pigskin fans everywhere. For $200, the bundle includes a shiny Metallic Blue PSP, Madden NFL 09 the game, "NFL: In Just One Play" UMD Video, the PSN downloadable Beats, and a 1GB Memory Stick. All in all, an excellent value.

The bundle will be available in stores on August 12th.

EA to stop online support for six PSP games

Starting September 1st, EA will officially shut down servers for the following online-enabled PSP titles:

FIFA Soccer 06
FIFA World Cup 2006
Fight Night Round 3
Madden NFL 06
NBA Live 06

In addition, Need for Speed Most Wanted will go offline starting November 1st. It looks like those of you that need an online racing fix might need to consider an alternative (like Test Drive Unlimited?). Unfortunately, it's commonplace for games to lose online support after a few years. Considering EA's love of making their franchises annual, it seems like they're really urging you to buy a new version of one of their products.

While the DS has been killing just about everything in Japan, it doesn't appear to be as dominant according to NPD's August sales chart. And with news that the PSP's Tales of Phantasia Full Voice Edition taking the top spot in Japan, could the tide of war be changing?

Okay, so the PSP only has Madden in the top 20. The PSP is going to enjoy an extremely strong surge in the quality of its library in the coming months with the pending releases of Bounty Hounds, Killzone: Liberation, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, Lumines II and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, just to name a few. Stand strong, my fellow fanboys because the future is bright.

Deal of the Day: Madden for $28

The deals just keep on coming. Easily the most high-profile game to come out this week, Madden 07, is available for dirt cheap at Circuit City. The game has earned a solid 8.0 from IGN, and most likely doesn't feature the horrible glitches of NCAA Football. $28 is a great price to satiate football fans, until next year's ~~minor upgrade~~ installment.
