PSP Fanboy hands-on: Fading Shadows

When Agetec announced they were going to release Fading Shadows in the US, they invited us to their NYC offices to try the game. We spent a good deal of time with the game -- over 10 levels -- and thoroughly enjoyed this excellent addition to the PSP library.

Yes, one of the game's leading charms is its story. To sum things up shortly, the player becomes a magical beam of light and must direct a girl who's transformed into a magical orb through a series of puzzles. It's strange, we know, but we wouldn't have it any other way. The nonsensical premise is what spurs a mellow, easy-to-understand puzzle adventure game, that's oozing with style.

The interplay between the light and the orb is well constructed. The orb is attracted to the light, and cannot move without it. At first, the light is used simply to get the orb from point A to point B. However, the game becomes more complex. The orb can transform into a variety of elements: wood, glass and metal. In its metal form, it can jump when a strong beam of light is placed on it. Wood can float across water, and glass can traverse its depths. However, players must be careful: overexposure to strong light will burn wood, and shatter glass.

Fading Shadows coming to US, courtesy of Agetec

The unique PSP-exclusive puzzler, Fading Shadows, is coming to America, courtesy of Agetec. In the game, players must direct a mystical beam of light to help a magical orb traverse various trap-filled puzzles. There are fifty levels to try when the game comes out this Summer.

One of the more intriguing aspects of Fading Shadows is the game's detailed story, an unusual addition to the puzzle genre. With such an inspired style, we can't help but be a bit intrigued by the game. (See video here.)

"We're very happy to be publishing this game as we think many people will be fascinated by the story," says Agetec's producer Mark Johnson. "It's an incredible, one-of-a-kind game that features an intriguing story, brain teasing puzzles, and unique gameplay. Puzzle fans will not be disappointed."

Fading Shadows: illuminating gameplay video

We're rather quite curious about Fading Shadows. It's a PSP-exclusive puzzle game released in Europe not too long ago. However, it currently has no release date for the US. Our friends at PSP GadgetZ have some excellent gameplay videos of the game in action. It intrigues us: not only are the graphics attractive, but we're curious as to how it plays. Check out all of the videos on YouTube.

Fading Shadows sneaks into UK retail

We're intrigued by the PSP-exclusive puzzle game, Fading Shadows. We haven't heard much about the game -- but apparently, it's available in stores for our friends across the Atlantic. The game has you controlling a ray of light that must navigate a magical orb. Elemental powers come into play, giving the orb unique powers and abilities.

Why is there so much secrecy surrounding the game? We're not entirely sure. Perhaps one of our readers can tell us more about this shadowy title?

Fading Shadows shows inspired art in debut trailer

Remember Fading Shadows? It's the PSP-exclusive puzzle game, which has you guiding a magical elemental ball through a series of puzzles. What should be a rather simple game looks to have a rather inspired art style, with some nice lighting effects that make the game to life. We didn't think much of the game at first, but we have to say we like seeing the added effort behind this title. The soothing, catchy trailer music certainly increases its allure quite significantly as well.

Fading Shadows: a new exclusive PSP puzzler

European developer Ivolgamus announced today a brand new PSP-exclusive puzzle game called Fading Shadows. Players are tasked with defending the gates of the Castle of Heaven, the supreme fortress built to protect the world from the forces of darkness. Players will return the mystical Erywn's soul to her body by using a magical beam of light.

The player must control the beam of light and exploit the state-changing abilities of the orb to fulfil the challenges of the 40 single player levels or 10 multiplayer levels. The orb can turn into various forms, such as wood, metal or glass, in order to guide the player to the end.

The game is scheduled for release at the beginning of next year. Check our gallery for the first-ever screenshots.
