The PSP has plenty of owners, but some claim it doesn't have many great games. With that in mind, every day this week we'll feature a new genre and list the top 5 games (according to metareviews), so no matter what you're into, you'll have some idea of what games you should own. Today the focus is on puzzle games, which the PSP first became known for. But there's more good puzzle games than just Lumines.

What makes the puzzle games on the PSP so unique is how they are audio/video showcases, which seems odd when you consider how puzzle games used to be. Of course, these 5 games are enjoyable to play as well, which is what really counts. Though I am suprised there weren't even more Q? Entertainment titles in the top 5. There may not be much PSP related news out of GDC yet, but you can comfort yourself by knowing the system has lots of great games already. Today the focus is on strategy games, which the PSP doesn't have a lot of, but there are some notable and enjoyable ones (like the games on the list below).

I know many gamers hated the Metal Gear Ac!d series, but they are some of my personal favorite games on the system. Today the focus is on Fighting games, a genre that used to be one of the biggest things in gaming, but has lost some popularity with time. I'm still a big fighting game fan though, so I had to make this list.

The PSP has been near the top of the sales charts recently and I figured some new PSP owners may not be up to know what great games the system has to offer. With that in mind, every day this week we'll feature a new genre and list the top 5 games (according to metareviews), so no matter what you're into, you'll have some idea of what games you should own. Today the focus is on Sports games and there were so many games tied in this genre that I'd end up with a list of 16 games if I listed all the tied games as equals in rank. With that in mind, I made an executive decision and today going forward with this feature I'll list the top 5 based on Metareview and I'll use reader reviews to sort through ties.

Day 2 kicks off with a very competitive genre on PSP: Racing.

I'm not a giant racing fan, so I only own Burnout Legends and Twisted Metal: Head-On (I dig the carnage factor). I did enjoy them both quite a bit though. But what I think doesn't really matter. We start off the week with one of the most popular genres around: Action.

2. Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror
3. Daxter
4. Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
5. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories

I'm lucky enough to own and have played all of the games in this particular list and trust me, they are all incredible gaming experiences and it's all the more impressive that they're on a portable. I do have to say that I think Ratchet & Clank is better than Daxter and GTA: VCS is better than GTA:LCS, but you really can't go wrong with any of these games. What did you think about these 5 games?
