Top 5 on PSP: Racing

There are plenty of new PSPs in gamer's houses since the holidays and I figured some new PSP owners may not be up to speed on what great games the system has to offer. With that in mind, every day this week we'll feature a new genre and list the top 5 games (according to metareviews), so no matter what you're into, you'll have some idea of what games you should own. Day 2 kicks off with a very competitive genre on PSP: Racing.

Top 5 Racing games on PSP

  1. (tie) Ridge Racer/WipEout Pure
  2. Burnout Legends
  3. TOCA Race Driver 2
  4. Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast
  5. Twisted Metal: Head-On

I'm not a giant racing fan, so I only own Burnout Legends and Twisted Metal: Head-On (I dig the carnage factor). I did enjoy them both quite a bit though. But what I think doesn't really matter. What do you think about these 5 games? What racing games aren't on this list that you think every PSP owner should have?

If you missed it, you can check out our previous top 5 game lists:

Deal of the Day: $17 PSP games at Circuit City

Deal of the Day: $17 PSP games at Circuit CityIf you're like me, then you like to buy your games on the cheap. And you can't get much cheaper than Circuit City and its $17 clearance on a bunch of PSP games.

Here's the list:

Burnout Legends
Death Jr.
FIFA World Cup 2006
Lumines
Mega Man: Powered Up
Midway Arcade Treasures
Namco Museum Battle Collection
NBA Ballers Rebound
Pinball Hall of Fame
Ridge Racer
SSX On Tour
Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max
WWE Smackdown vs. Raw

Yeah, most of these games are a tad old, but we gotta take the deals as they come to us, right? It doesn't look like this deal is currently being offered online, so you'll have to get off the computer and go outside.

Australian PSP software chart, Oct. 2-8: They like violence

Australian PSP software chart, Oct. 2-8: They like violenceUnfortunately, my beloved Aussies let me down this week by not buying enough PSP games like they did last week; none made it into the top 10. However, they still bought enough to have a top-10 PSP list.

1. Tekken: Dark Resurrection
2. GTA: Liberty Cities
3. Gangs of London
4. Star Wars: Battlefront II
5. Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror
6. Daxter
7. WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW
8. NBA Live 2006
9. NFS: Most Wanted
10. Burnout Legends

Well, it seems like the Aussies love their violence as the top-five games are all about hunting down and killing your opponent in violent fashion. You gotta love it!
