DS Lite: harbinger of doom
The release of the DS Lite in late 2006 quickly shifted the handheld wars in Nintendo's favor. While PSP never outsold Nintendo's handheld, it never lagged far behind. By October of 2006, Sony had to lower sales forecasts of PSP. Sony's Chief Financial Officer Nobuyuki Oneda noted "We'll have to increase the ways of enjoying the PSP, with the development of software and peripherals. Sony Computer Entertainment is currently investigating solutions."
