Slim Down for Summer with That's Fit

New Hot Pixel screenshots continue to confuse and intrigue

Atari has released a new batch of screenshots for its Warioware-esque mini-game collection, Hot Pixel. As before, the images are pretty much incomprehensible but they do show off a wide variety of games and visual styles. From the demo impressions, Atari has pretty much nailed the Warioware style of gameplay but with a more urban 'hip' vibe. Those waiting to get their mini-gaming on, you won't have to wait too much longer. Hot Pixel comes out on September 18th, until then check out our huge gallery of screenshots (prepare to be confused).

HOT PIXEL downloadable demo

Yes, yet another demo today. HOT PIXEL is Atari's Wario Ware clone. And when we say clone, we mean it. Play this new demo to see how it takes Nintendo's formula and copies it exactly.

1. Download the demo zip file.
2. Extract the contents of the zip file.
3. Connect your PSP to your computer using a USB cable.
4. Go to the PSP/GAME folder.
5. Copy ULED90025 folder into the GAME directory.

HOT PXL gets vowels, screenshots

Atari's long-lost Wario Ware-clone, HOT PXL, is finally making another public appearance. And this time, the game has vowels. Vanna White would be so proud. Now entitled HOT PIXEL, this assortment of mini-games is now scheduled for a September release of this year ... months after it was originally supposed to come out. Seriously, is it that hard to make a game like this? [Update: The European release is in one week.]

Until then, we'll have to make do with Atari's latest screenshots of the game. Check it out in our new GLLRY ... uh, gallery.

New HOT PXL trailer

With WTF come and gone, another game must fill its shoes. HOT PXL attempts to emulate Nintendo's successful Wario Ware formula by adding an Atari twist. With its expanded media profile, and skateboarding attitude, does this game have what it takes to stand out in an ever-growing crowd of genre clones? Well, watch the trailer and judge for yourself.

HOT PXL really takes advantage of the PSP

Wario Ware-styled games seem to be all the rage these days. We had a look at WTF a few days ago, and although HOT PXL also uses an all-capitalized abbreviated title, it has an interesting feature set that may help distinguish it from its competitor. Firstly, it has a 150 game off the bat, and is one of the few games that takes advantage of one of PSP's greatest features: downloadable levels. Atari plans on making at least fifty available to download. In addition, Atari is going to leverage the weight of its incredible catalog of games, and will bring out some quick retro remakes of their classic titles.

Not only does HOT PXL feature an incredible breadth of game content, but it appears like it will feature tons of multimedia content as well. In addition to an original licensed soundtrack, the game will feature videos, and some kind of podcasting ability. I'm not exactly sure what that means, but it appears like this game will finally utilize all of PSP's unique capabilities. Unfortunately, the game won't be available until next February, so WTF may have to satiate you until then.

Screenshot roundup: Hot PXL

IGN has thrown up eight new Hot PXL screenshots, which in case you weren't in the know, is a game that, through a compilation of short and fast minigames, promises to bring something unique and fun to the platform. Much like Nintendo's Warioware series, Hot PXL hopes to enthrall players through quirky, highly-charismatic minigames and even though we did not get ahold of it during E3, are looking forward to its impending release.
