Remember Galaxy's End? The PSP-exclusive RTS game from Tiki Games was never finished, but the advent of the PSP-direct PlayStation Store has created an opportunity for the developers to continue work and release it to the masses. "When we started Galaxy's End we absolutely needed a publisher at some point - not just for the financial aspect but to get it into stores. Now that the PLAYSTATION Store has been added for the PSP we have the opportunity to finish the game and release it as a digital download (like NOVASTRIKE)."
But, there's still a year's worth of work left for the team before they can prepare the RTS for release. And, there's the question of money. "Quite frankly we don't have the finances to finish Galaxy's End right now. So we'll likely have to look for another loan. And I'll need to convince my family (who are presently self-funding Tiki Games) that there's a large enough audience that would be willing to purchase a downloadable real-time strategy game for the PSP."
So how can you help? "If you feel you would purchase a well-designed and fun real-time strategy game for the PSP near the end of 2009 then I'd appreciate if you can email with a simple 'Finish it' in the subject line."

Risking a family's money on a game like this is probably not a good thing.
Still, this is exactly the sort of thing Sony should be picking up though, putting its money where it's mouth is. Instead of all this big talk we've heard from them for the last year when the drought of games became noticeable (including last week about their bragging about downloadable games, but not announcing any new ones), Sony needs to start financing games.

If the finish the game and it gets an actual release I would likely buy it. If it's only going to be some lame download they should not even bother finishing it.

what difference does it make? Content wise it'd be exactly the same.
I really don't understand why so many people are down on DL games.

I think the reason they are against download only games is because there is still a large amount of people without high speed. I didn't get High speed until feb of this year, so I know how making games download only can effect people experiences.

I propose that in addition to an email to Tiki Games, we also express our concern to SCE and demand them to support the project.
If they receive such emails by the thousands, they'll be forced to listen.

I've been following the Galaxy's End saga through PSPfanboy since it started... the lack of updates looked pretty bleak.
I'd love to have it finally come out, but I can't access the PSN store because it gives me the 80048516 error. If it isn't on UMD, I can't get it.

I don't have wi-fi, and there are very few places in my town that have it, so nope, not from my PSP.

These are real gamers trying to accomplish a dream, folks. And even better, it'd be the first RTS for our PSPs. I think we should support Tiki in any way we can. Besides, we'd be doing ourselves a favor: The game looks sweet!

actually, tom clancy's endwar is the first rts to be released chronologically...unless one has already been released before...but i think that's right.

Endwar is a turn based game, actually, but with simultaneous turn execution (like Lord of the Ring Tactics). Basically both sides plot moves.
There actually might be an RTS game - some Roman game from the History channel, but it wasn't released in NA, only Europe, so I haven't played it. It sounds like it's real time, but not the Dune 2 sort of RTS

I'm definitely buying this if it comes out (don't forget to send your "Finish it" email). It sounds like it's going to be a serious RTS, from what they're saying. This is from their website, regarding price and more game info:
As far as the price is concerned we're probably looking at Galaxy's End as being around $19.99. Keep in mind Galaxy's End is going to be a full-featured real-time strategy game with 39 single-player missions and full multiplayer from 2 to 4 players (free-for-all and team support) with both adhoc and infrastructure support. We're aiming for the single-player Campaign to provide around twelve-plus hours of gameplay, with multiplayer being the replayability factor. I'll also be targeting a simultaneous North America and Europe release for Galaxy's End.

This game could rock or totally suck. It all depends on the game play mechanics and the online modes. I can't play my PSP online because Sony screwed up all my registration stuff, but I can play on the PlayStation Network.
