The recently-announced PSP firmware 5.00 is now available for download. Just hit Network Update on your PSP, or download it
here and copy it to your Memory Stick (it should look like this: X:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE/EBOOT.PBP). This update includes:
- The [PlayStaiton Network] category has been added, and [PlayStation Store] is now available under this category.
- PlayStation format software can now be output in interlace format on a connected device.
- PlayStation format software can now be output in full-screen size on a connected device.
- The sleep timer feature can now be used under [Music].
- The system will automatically change to USB mode when a USB Cable is connected.
- The [Original] theme has been redesigned.
[Thanks, lorderk!]

Great update! But, I thought I saw somewhere that the RSS newsfeader was going to be enhanced so that it can read text? I haven't tried that yet but was curious if anyone has.

"PlayStation format software can now be output in interlace format on a connected device."
Does this mean.... UMD games?
"The sleep timer feature can now be used under [Music]."
If these features are what they sound like, then this could be one of my favourite updates in a long time.

Its for connecting the PSP to the TV to play games, better compatibilty (you could only do it with a certain type of cable before).
You can now play PSX games full screen.
If you have a phat, you can't do it.

well actulley the first one i have no freak of an idea but the second 1 means that now the psp can play videos and etc. on a tv (with the cable of corse) on a tv in full screen not only a fraction of the screen like before. go to the psp website (not the store) and you should be able to find the psp update section there scroll to the bottom and you can go to another page with more in depth about the updates, and thats where a comparison of before and now of the psp broadcasting on a tv Glad to help!
