While firmware 5.00 was confirmed for Japanese release this week, it appears that America will also follow suit. The big update in 5.00 is the ability to access the PSN and PLAYSTATION Store directly from the PSP. The PC-based Store will be temporarily down in the interim.
While this is great for our Mac-owning friends that weren't able to purchase games in the past, this deal will be far more enticing if it ensured that our weekly PSN updates were slightly more robust than wallpaper downloads. Let's hope that the US can have a downloadable lineup as great as Japan's.

oh wow. Mac users couldnt use pc store earlier? Thats like a slap in the face to apple. If sony did make a pc store for mac users imagine the boost in sales. Its good for both of them. So why is Sony so stupid to not make it compatible for macs?

Do you have any stats as to the cross ownership of PSP and Macintosh computers? I doubt it is worth SONY's time and money.

I fell into this category and had to download PSP demos to my PS3 and transfer them that way. It worked, but a built in store will be much nicer.

I have Windows 2000 and I have been unable to download things from the store as well. My PSP has been a literal paperweight for some time. Once this is done it will be time to kick the dust off of it and check out some new demos! Thank God! This took way too long.

actually what are the stats to the cross ownership of PSP and Macintosh computers? I am curious.
Sony will always be Sony. I feel for the Mac owners. Kspraydad just because not many people who own macs dont own many psps doesent mean there are people out there with macs and psp.
Anyhow I wonder how fast this psp store is going to be anyways, on any internet connection. Has anyone tested it out yet?

I doubt it. Probably changed it to look like the ps3 keyboardor something like that. Atleast they redesigned the xmb, atleast thats what they say. But seriously sony i need that keyboard. For me typing on the psp is like taking a dump.

Taking a dump is one of the better times of the day...the current keyboard is worse.

being a mac owner this is good news. I hated having to hook my psp up to my PS3 just to get stuff. But I guess it didn't matter since PsP has been pretty dead for awhile but looks to be picking back up with the new game line up the rest of the year into next. Resistance looks great and I'll buy that since it was done by the studio that did the syphon filter games which i loved.

Maybe this is what Sony has been waiting for. Maybe, when the firmware has been released, they will finaly start releasing more games and PS classics on the stores, and give us the same treatment as Japan gets.
