This is the boxart for the PSP Brite Limited Edition 4GB memory stick pack. Notice anything interesting? PS3 owners among you might recognise two things. Firstly, the PSN logo, which the PSP has previously not been associated with. Secondly, the screen shows the PSN Store. The actual PSN store, not the PC-based website. Interesting. That means we should be seeing the direct PSP store before this bundle releases on November 30th. Will we be hearing an announcement regarding the exact release date for the WI-FI based store directly on the PSP soon? With the Tokyo Game Show just around the corner, it's a strong possibility.

The wifi store was announced with the ps3-linked infrastructure for ad-hoc games and all that other jazz at like E3 or something, wasn't it? I've known about it for a while :-/

The Wi-Fi store has a reputation that comes near the likes of Starcraft Ghost and Duke Nukem Forever. No-one will believe it is being released until it is actually released.

Yes, as the news post points out (and links to) the direct psp store was announced some time ago. The post is for the screenshot of the store.
Although I personally wont use it, hopefully the direct store leads to more users on the store and in turn, better updates (im looking at you SCEE).

The POINT isn't that the store is news...it is that the store is likely to be inplace by launch of the PSPBrite.

Here's hoping for a Friends category with the same Message Box you'd access on your PS3 account along with friends list. In fact, with the built-in mic (or Skype mic), what about voice chat PSP-to-PSP? Or even video chat with the Go!Cam/Chotto Shot? They DID talk about a single sign-on (I think that was the term) for all PS media. If you can sign into your PSN account, what about seeing your PS3 Trophies? In fact, what about PSP Trophies?
Sorry, guys. Don't worry, I pinched myself and woke up from that dream.

is the store a brite-only feature, or will it work for psp 1000 and 2000 models?

There are no differences in specs, so I would expect it to work on the slim. As for working on the phat, that is yet to be seen.

Well since this way nearly every PSP user will know that a PS Store actually exists, I'm sure traffic will build up. I think the PC Store was pretty much a beta and a small stepping stone to what they want to actually do with the PSP.
Plus the fact that Sony included a 4GB stick this time around means that they expect their users to download pretty heavily.

Really? Seriously? I mean how many people here are REALLY HINDERED from buying games from the PS store because they don't either already have a PC or PS3 to connect to it with. I could understand the PS3, but just about everybody at least has an old PC available, so i still don't see why this is big news.

It's a LOT more convenient Christopher. Most people don't want to have to use their PC just to download something for their PSP.
