Star Ocean: First Departure was first announced for Europe in late August, though a specific date was yet to be determined. However now, we now know that the tri-Ace space voyager will be releasing in Europe on October 24 -- three days behind the North American date.
That's good to know for all you RPG fanatics that live over yonder. In celebration of this news, we've got ten new screenshots in our gallery for you to enjoy.

The game looks absolutely beautiful, but Fable 2 and Far Cry 2 have my attention in this period before Fallout 3. This might get picked up later used.

Actually, I think the sprites look like crap. But I'll wait to see it in motion somehow before making any final judgments =)

I like it. It has an early PSX RPG vibe to it. It reminds me of slaving away at Breath of Fire III abck in the day.....

If it's anything like the sequel, it's a time sink. (-_-)b

Well, duuuh... That's what JRPG's are.
Japanese gamers love monotonous repetition as long as they are working towards a goal and are progressing. They're all RPG's where the evolution bit is incredibly complex to the Nth degree. Very few JRPG's are exceptions to this, and they're usually localized primarily for the sake of western audiences.
Final Fantasy X was a good example of this. The US version was much shorter than the JP and EU versions.
