[Update -- Unfortunately, it looks like the deal expired. However, they do have the 4GB for $14.99, which is still better than yesterday's deal. Thanks, Joepal!]
The prices for these babies just keep falling, huh? Yesterday we posted a deal about a 4GB Memory Stick for $20. How about we top that deal? At $40 with free shipping, these Lexar 8GB Memory Sticks are simply a steal. Need we say more? Head over to Frys for this incredible deal now. When will the 16GB ones (currently at a little less than $125) reach these affordable prices?

Nice. But 8 is still too small. I mean with my 2GB stick I have just enough to get by. I'm not buying a bigger one till I can get 32GB for a decent price.

Does the PSP even accept 32GB at this point?
You'd be surprised how much you can squeeze into an 8GB stick. If you're discriminating about what you store on it, you can get by.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Flash memory is getting so cheap that sony could probably use it instead of UMD in the psp2. All they would have to do is take the innards of a memory stick pro duo and stick it into some proprietary cartridge. (so it can't be easily pirated) 8GB would be plenty of memory for a psp2 game.

They could, but how would they deliver games? Maybe for those that have uncapped high speed internet, but they are basically saying to the rest of the people in the country "We don't want your business".
Digitial distribution might work for small, XBLA quality games, which is actually a fair amount of PSP games. But a lot of them are over a gig, and for the PSP2, I would imagine they would be 2-3 as large.

I would perfer having games like that too. But it wouldn't make much of a difference. Firstly if they do make a PSP2 they should add in a hdd, and a second analog stick for fps. Maybe a seperately buyable keyboard too but i think they are already working on that.

In my experience, Lexars are total crap. No good for homebrew, and movies have issues too. If I can't run Daedalus off it, it's not going in my PSP.

I think this is cool because they could soon just release games for download because we can have tons of memory for so cheap.
