Atlus' upcoming
Yggdra Union is revamping the cult classic GBA SRPG for Sony's handheld. For those that can't wait for some more card-battling action, we heed you to pre-order the game at
Gamestop. As usual, Atlus has cooked up another cool pre-order gift. This time,
Yggdra Union comes with a free soundtrack CD which contains 56 tracks of music from the game. For those that were already interested in picking up the unique SRPG, this is certainly a nice bonus.

Sounds like a fine bonus, but I haven't heard the game's music yet so I wouldn't know HOW fine is it. I'm loving the art and screenies, tho.

Damn, and I just pre-ordered it at EB the other day.
Well, I guess I'll just have to go and cancel that pre-order and walk down to GameStop...

I just listened to excerpts from the soundtrack via the flightworks blog.
Based on what I heard, I won't be preordering. Instead, I'll wait for the price of the game to go down.
For me to bother with the soundtrack, it would have to be on the level of Amon Tobin's Chaos Theory, Badlamente's Fahrenheit, Akira Yamaoka's Silent Hill 0-5 or Yutaka Minobe's Rule of Rose. I'm a studio musician and arranger. I expect innovative arrangements and production values that yield something more than Yggdra's competent MIDI kitsch.
